Positive: Wonderful room overlooking the river with sloth in garden. Pool was pleasant. Great bird feeder at breakfast bar.
Negative: Restaurants. Buffet restaurant was awful (tour group fodder) and the only alternative was an Italian restaurant which couldn’t even serve decent pasta. Trail into forest was closed except if you took an expensive guide.
Summary: Wonderful room and great birds but don’t eat here

Positive: Superb location. Wooden walkways overlooked stunning scenery. Good bfast and bird viewing area. Tree frogs near bfast area! The self guided walk in the rainforest on north side of the road was excellent ( saw frogs/ snakes/ monkeys etc). Massive rooms. Clean bathrooms. Lovely pool.
Negative: The 2 hr organised walk in the rainforest could have been so much better. Guide not very enthusiastic and walked at a snails pace. Did not enjoy having to listen to a chain saw walking along the route. Not cheap, but it is a superb setting.

Positive: We spent two nights at Selva Verde Lodge during our Costa Rica trip. The lodge offers beautiful, spacious rooms with air conditioning, which were honestly the best accommodations we had during our trip. The property is well-maintained, featuring its own trails, a restaurant, a souvenir shop, and daily guided activities. The staff is incredibly friendly and always willing to help.
Negative: We found the lodge to be too busy to our liking, even during the low season, which detracted from the feeling of being in the wild nature. Photographic opportunities were limited, as the different perches could be set up in a more photo-friendly way. Additionally, the food was disappointing. Although advertised as local cuisine, it felt and tasted overly adapted to Western preferences. It's important to note that our disappointment stems from our travel style, which favors adventure and rough wilderness experiences. We can easily see how this lodge would be perfect for older travelers, families with kids, or those who want to enjoy natural surroundings while benefiting from nearby facilities. Overall, while Selva Verde Lodge didn't meet our expectations as adventure travelers (which the lodge cannot be blamed for as that is our own responsibility), it has many qualities that would appeal to others seeking a comfortable and nature-friendly stay.

Positive: Modern bathroom, big beds. Beautiful nature right out of the door. Helpful staff, guarded parking (free).
Negative: We've had cockroaches in the room but after notifying the front desk they were quickly taken care of (manually, no pesticides). Room is small, door is not completely shut so always the risk of insects entering.
Summary: Helpful and friendly with great nature (but also in your room)

Positive: Wonderful place, we had three nights and would love to have stayed longer. Bird life was excellent, staff were friendly, rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. So peaceful too, thank you for a wonderful experience.

Positive: The best aspect of the property for us are the two self-guided hiking trails with lots to discover. After having 2 nice walk, we really enjoyed the breakfast with plenty of "visitors" coming by. Grabbing another coffee and watching what happens next was a special surprise to us.
Negative: The lighting in the rooms was plenty, but not really cozy for our liking.
