Summary: Our stay in this home greatly exceeded our expectations and was the highlight of our trip. The minute we opened the gate we were overwhelmed by the raw beauty and serenity. We never wanted to leave! The exterior of the house is covered with blossoming flowers, herbs, vegetable plants, and wildflowers. The outlook is absolutely spectacular and the sun sets right over the mountains in the distance which makes for the perfect dinner time view. The table outside was our favorite spot and the square shape creates an atmosphere that is very inclusive to everyone conversing. The yard has multiple hammocks, a slackline, sandbox, jungle gym, and plenty of grass to run around in. There is an incredible amount of butterflies, bumblebees, geckos, and other intriguing insects that we found joy in observing. We also loved hiking the trails and visiting the horses that live just down the road. The inside of the house is extremely spacious and homey. The house is beautifully made with exposed beams, stones, and old wooden doors all while maintaining a modern feel. The bedrooms are very cozy and comfortable and the bathrooms are gorgeous. The kitchen is very spacious and there is a lot of room at the beautiful large kitchen table. The house is located about 15 minutes from Vicchio which has a train station that is very easy to take directly into Florence (approx 50 mins) or any other place you may wish to travel to. The grocery store is located right in the downtown as well as a few other small restaurants. Villa Campestri is also located right at the end of the street which has spectacular views, excellent olive oil, and a very charming atmosphere. Simone and Shannon were wonderful hosts and always answered as soon as we contacted them. They provided an extremely helpful book with suggestions, guidelines, and recommendations. We also scheduled the dinner with Raffaele and he was extremely welcoming and invited us to go see his home as well. This home is a little slice of heaven and we are so grateful to have had the opportunity to experience all of its beauty. We will definitely be returning!

Summary: If you desire peace and quiet after a day of tourist mayhem, then this is the place for you. It is, quite literally, off the beaten track and away from the madness and noise of the city. Stuck out in the country, it has every modern convenience you could wish for, with the added benefit of being away from everyone else. The villa is luxurious and made for chilling out in style. With lazy mornings, long lunches, sleepy siestas and wine soaked dinners, nothing else comes quite as close to paradise. From the villa you can head off on road trips for the day knowing that you will be returning to peace and quiet at the end of it. Don't be put off by the road up to the villa! Yes it is narrow and windy, with some superb hairpin bends to negotiate, and yes the road runs out and the last stretch is on a hardcore track. Any car can easily make it in the summer months, just don't hire a Ferrari or Lamborghini (the suspension is too low and the car far too precious!). When the gates to the villa swing open you'll know you've made the right choice. The train to Florence takes about an hour. It's an easy and relaxing way of getting into the centre of of the city and removes all the hassle of finding a suitable parking place. The only word of caution is that the train back to Vicchio (nearest station to the villa) invariably departs from Florence's platform 18, which is a bit of a hike to get to once through the ticket barrier - give yourself an extra 5 minutes rather than cut it fine, unless you have a turn of speed similar to Usain Bolt. Siena is well worth the 2 hour drive and if you are flying in or out of Pisa then I would strongly recommend going via Lucca, which is a wonderful walled town. The owners, Shannon and Simone, are brilliant. They respond quickly to emails and go out of their way to make your stay in their home as relaxing as possible. The kitchen has everything you could wish for, the bathrooms are well appointed and the internet is excellent. In summary, it is a wonderful place that offers the perfect escape.

Summary: A lovely country home remotely situated in the Tuscan hills above the towns of Borgo San Lorenzo and Vicchio. The location is good as a base for exploring that region of Tuscany. The property is quite beautiful--a blend of rustic and modern--and well suited for 4-8 people and would be quite enjoyable for families. We would have appreciated more in the way of basic amenities that one should be able to expect from a home stay, such as a supply of toilet tissue, paper towels, garbage bags, bath soap and shampoo but these are small matters that detracted only a little from the experience. The steep and windy road up is not for the faint hearted but well suited for those who enjoy some stimulation in their daily driving. Night driving in the surrounding hillsides is also an adventure. The Villa Campestri resort below offers wonderful, elegant dining. Do take advantage of a lovely meal and wine pairings hosted in the home by a cousin of the proprietors. Communication with the proprietors was excellent and appreciated. To Shannon: Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Summary: We spent five nights here at this beautiful location. A short drive to the train station for trips into Florence. The owner was very gracious and helpful. We had the personal chef prepare a delicious dinner paired with the appropriate wines. The surrounding area was very peaceful and the views were breathtaking. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it for anyone. Thank you Shannon and Simone!

Summary: Perfection!! The most beautiful Tuscan home that has been decorated impeccably. Just gorgeous. The house is built on a big property surrounded by everything that you can imagine. It has breathtaking views everywhere you look. We are a family of 5 who spent a week in La Prunetina and felt the house was very spacious and comfortable... The highlights being the modern amenities and comfortable furniture and gorgeous views. The house is located on a hill overlooking the vistas of Tuscany. The drive from the plains up to the property is a real Tuscany experience. This is the place if you want to be away from the tourist crowds. Shannon and Simone are wonderful hosts. Shannon gave us a great introduction to the area and was very helpful in suggesting things to do. She arranged for us a wine tasting with cousin Raphaele who is an expert sommelier and knows all that you need to know about Italian wines. We had a lovely stay at La Prunetina House and we would recommend it without hesitation... Thanks for a great stay!

Summary: My husband and I traveled to Italy for our 1-year wedding anniversary. We knew that we wanted to stay in the heart of the cities we visited, but also that we wanted to experience a glimpse of everyday Italian life. We found this wonderful property outside Florence to stay at a couple nights before we moved on to Milan (the owners gave excellent directions as you do end up on a narrow gravel road - part of the adventure!). The spacious home was on a large lot and had just been beautifully renovated. There were horses that grazed nearby and breathtaking views of the valley. We went to the market and cooked most of our meals, but then had an amazing dinner at the resort just down the road (be sure to enjoy the olive oil tasting). My husband enjoyed a round of golf at the Medici course a short drive away while I read a book on the patio. We had a great time and are planning to stay here again (and for longer than two days, I might add) when we can get back!

Summary: This home & setting beyond trumps Diane Lane's movie, 'Under the Tuscan Sun'. This is my dream home! This incredibly beautiful home is nestled in the tuscan hills with the most amazing vistas. The property is abundant with fruit trees and land to go on strolls or hikes. There is a great trail that leads you to a Roman tower and many points to see the views for miles. The eco-chic retreat has been remodeled keeping true to its italian roots, but with modern ammenities. The home is spacious and evokes the most serene atmosphere. Each room is quiet & private. There is plenty of room to make yourself comfortable and find solace if you staying with a group. I HIGHLY recommend this!

Summary: It's one of the places you imagine when you read the books about Tuscany--fields surrounded by horses, a view of the valley, the house well-appointed with an organic, warm interior lovingly restored with lots of light, wood and clean lines. The kitchen is fantastic for cooks. Just quiet enough to afford the solitude of the olive groves, your fresh garden herbs and grasslands yet near enough to Vicco to afford easy access to the fresh bread, local flavor and culture. It's only a short drive from Florence, too. Well worth the price for the piece of real Italy you'll be bringing home. Thank you Shannon and Simone for sharing this beautiful property with us!!

Summary: I found the hammock to be my favorite spot at this Tuscan home’s tranquil location overlooking a breathtaking view of the mountains. Enjoying the starry night skies and a glass of wine on the patio was also a pleasure. Trails allowed for local exploration, but on those days when I wanted a little more adventure, a trip to Florence or the two near by towns and a lake provided a welcome diversion. The entire home is very up to date with a modern kitchen and baths, full laundry facilities and wireless internet. The property is nicely maintained with lush grass, plantings and trees. A splendid place to vacation!

Summary: As part of our romantic European getaway holiday and my girlfriends lifelong dream to visit Tuscany, we stayed at this beautiful house for three days. It was the highlight of our trip to Europe for both of us and we should have planned to stay there for much more of our vacation. Romantic and exactly what we wanted our trip to this region to be. My girlfriend still to this day says it was one of the top 3 highlights of her life1 Beautiful location and when I am going to go to Italy again I will be basing myself here and travel by train around the rest of the country! Highly recommended!
