We can offer you a heated, salt treated Infinity swimming pool with a constant depth of 1.2 metres and 16.7 metres long. So if you want to keep up your lap swimming when on holiday then every 6 lengths of our pool equates to 100 metres. This will be one of the longest private pools in the area solely for your use, apart from myself as a regular swimmer. I was still swimming into November last year when we still maintained water temperatures of over 20 degrees, though in the warmer months 26 to 28 degrees can generally be expected. The pool will be closed November through to April.
We have ground source geothermic under floor heating for the main house and this also heats the pool, so if a September / October holiday suits you better then please check our calendar for availability. For safety reasons the pool will be closed between 10pm and 7 am.
Your main accommodation is a generous 1300 sq metres of contemporary living space over two floors, comprising of a large open plan kitchen, dining and lounge on the first floor, with views to the small lake of Lanquais, the Chateau de Lanquais and your swimming pool. Two generously sized bedrooms, both with en-suite shower rooms are situated on the ground floor with hallway and internal stairs to the first floor.
Our home has been newly built by local Stone Masons, Carpenters in the village and other local tradesmen, all designed in a local style, though it has all the benefits of modern methods of construction for your comfort. If you look at a picture of the front view of the house then your accommodation is to the left hand side and has an independent entrance at first floor next to the swimming pool. Access is by stone stairs to a small first floor terraced area where the principal door is located. You may wish to consider if this is suitable for small children or those less mobile.
We will be living in our part of the house during your holiday in order to maintain the pool and grounds and facilitate any other needs you may have, but rest assured that we will keep ourselves as discreet as possible during your stay.
You can get to us within 20 to 25 minutes from Bergerac airport which is only 11 miles away, and if you are hungry when you arrive we have a very popular restaurant in the village which is a casual 15 minute walk from your accommodation. We can pre-book a table for you if required.
There are numerous places to visit including the busy Sunday market at Issigeac, which is 8 miles from Lanquais, and we love the small 'Shabby Chic' café in the backstreets. Our all time favourite restaurant is the 'Belle Etoile' at La Roque-Gageac though this is 32 miles and a 53 minute drive, but it is a beautiful village built on the side of the cliffs by the river Dordogne and well worth the visit.
Other facilities include table tennis at your accommodation and fishing is possible in the small lake facing our house at 10 euros a week (licence from the post office), though fishing in the other rivers and waterways is more expensive..
The village of Mauzac is just 9 miles away and sits on a particularly wide section of the river Dordogne where I regularly go open water swimming, and there are also small sailing yachts, canoes and stand up paddle boards for hire. Mauzac almost seems undiscovered as it is not on the main tourist trail, we love to sit and watch the world go by with a flask of coffee as it is usually very quiet even in season.
For those who like horse riding we believe that there are riding stables within 3 miles from Lanquais and we can check these for you if you have an interest.
Unfortunately we do not have a charging point for electric cars, but we plan to provide this facility at a future date

Summary: Brian and Helen were there to greet us as soon as we arrived, they were so friendly, accommodating and informative. Providing a full guided tour of their beautiful property and the extensive amenities available. Also provided throughout the stay alot of local information on events and things to see and do, best parking locations in local towns etc, which was extremely helpful. Beautiful, quiet and scenic location, with a stunning pool and a lovely local restaurant in the village. accommodation is very well thought out, and extremely well equipped, also the communication leading into the holiday was great and meant we didnt bring things we didn't need. Can't wait to go back and enjoy another fun filled family holiday....would definitely recommend.

Summary: We stayed at Brian and Helen’s property as a family and had a wonderfully relaxing stay. It’s a really big, clean and well equipped property with exceptional views of the stunning surrounding countryside. The pool is fantastic and a great size and we all loved spending time in and around it. Brian and Helen are such considerate hosts and paid attention to every little detail from providing us with welcome goodies on arrival, providing poolside towels, giving us great tips and booking fabulous local restaurants. They were always on hand to help but also left us in peace to enjoy our holiday as a family. The property is in a great location for exploring the area and we would highly recommend!

Summary: We had a great holiday. Really nice house with a great view in a quite area with several outside spaces. There is a nice restaurant close by and shops at 10 min driving away. The house itself is very nice. Also the little goodies and attentions were nice. Brian and Helen are there to to help and give information. Top here was the swimming pool!!!

Summary: Our family had a fantastic stay with Brian and Helen. The property is beautiful, excellent standard and we quickly relaxed into our holiday. Lanquais is lovely and quiet and located well for day trips in the Dordogne. Brian and Helen are so welcoming and considerate, they booked dinner reservations, told us about local markets and provided towels for our canoe trip. Truly lovely people, five star accommodation and would highly recommend to anyone with or without children.

Summary: Our family had a wonderful week staying with Brian and Helen in their fabulous home in Lanquais. They were tremendous hosts being both attentive and at the same time discrete allowing us to enjoy our time as a family. The accomodation is simply perfect with an attention to detail I’ve rarely seen outside higher end hotels. The beds were incredibly comfortable and Brian kindly facilitated 2 singles for our daughters in their room. The bathrooms were as with everything else superb. The kitchen was very well served with every utensil one could wish for. Externally there are various lovely seating areas with shade and a gas BBQ we used extensively. The saline pool is a uniform depth of approx 1.2m and as with everything else was spotlessly clean and a joy to do endless lengths in. Helen also lent us towels and Brian a map so we could do some river swimming in the Dordogne. Lanquais itself is a small quiet rural commune. We ate at the restaurant Les Marrionniers and had a great meal which we also are happy to recommend. The nearest boulangerie is in the next village and the nearest supermarket is in Lalinde although we preferred the hyper market in Creysse near Bergerac. Issigeac market on Sunday is worth a visit but go early to get parked. Overall can’t recommend highly enough if you desire a quiet relaxing few days in a rural setting

Summary: Brian and Helen are fantastic hosts and have thought of everything to make your stay fantastic. (Including the kids choclatines -Helen) The accommodation and facilities are absolutely first class and we can't wait to visit again.

Summary: A wonderful location in rural Dordogne with an absolutely fantastic pool, kept in perfect condition.Brian and Helen are kind,considerate and friendly hosts, on hand for help whenever needed but never intrusive.If you enjoy beautiful views,a stroll to an extremely good restaurant and a swim at least 5 times a day,this is the place for you.One week simply wasn't enough in this high standard accommodation.We really appreciated our hosts attention to detail.Thank you for looking after us so well.Jo and Nick

Summary: We have spent an excellent 2 weeks in this very beautiful house, which looks like a castle. We felt very welcome by the hosts Brian and Helen who are really nice. We had the feeling of staying in a 6 star hotel with no other guests. The whole day we relaxed in and outside of the pool, played table tennis and made our dinner on the BBQ (which functions perfectly on gas!). Thank you Brian and Helen for our wonderful holiday.

Summary: The house is incredibly beautiful and spacious. 2 Couples will have more than enough place to stay. The beds are very comfortable. You can eat either inside or outside (2 terraces, one just outside the kitchen and one downstairs). The kitchen is well equiped and you will have a fantastic BBQ to grill your food on. And the pool ... closer to heaven you won't get. Last but not least, the hosts Helen and Brian are just perfect.
