Summary: Upon arrival we were greeted by Tracy who showed us around the premises. The property has been well thought through with good use of the space. There is plenty of parking to the front which you share access to with the owners. From the kitchen at the rear of the property you can access a gravel patio area with pretty lighting and garden furniture, a great spot to enjoy a drink in the evening. A small grass area leads to a fence and we often were greeted by the friendly sheep. The pool is located through a small gate slightly away from house, but within view. There is also a bbq that we made use of along with some outdoor games (boules, badminton) with plenty of grassy areas to play these on. We had a fabulous time over our two weeks and Aubeterre-sue-Dronne is a beautiful place with plenty of restaurants/cafes to eat and keep the kids entertained (there is a river-beach at the campsite and canoes for hire). We travelled to a number of beautiful towns and villages and attended some of the local festivals that were on. The pool is wonderful to cool off in, and feels a little like an infinity pool when you are in it as you look across the valley, there are two minor downsides, 1) the decking is looking tired and 2) it is one uniformed depth which may not be suitable for younger children. Any negative is by far outweighed by the positives of this rental. We hardly saw the owners, but they were on hand if ever we needed them, and always very prompt with any queries or questions we had - thank you Tracy and Dave! I have no hesitation in giving it a five star rating.

Summary: Lovely property. Lovely owners. Lovely part of France. Enjoyed evenings sat outside looking at the stars and mars! And enjoying wine. Very relaxing.

Summary: We were after a complete getaway from the hustle and bustle of life and we definitely found it here. A beautiful gite which was very much bigger than we expected. Everything was spotlessly clean and there was a good selection of games and books. The scrabble and snakes and ladders were particular favourites to play during the evening after enjoying a bbq on the patio. The friendly sheep and cats kept us entertained. We even saw deer roaming in the fields around us. It really is a magical spot. The kids enjoyed the pool everyday and it was most welcome on the very hot days we had. There is a lovely butchers and bakers in Aubeterre and whilst we didn't go out too much we did enjoy a drink in the square in Aubeterre after a wander around. It is a lovely village. The supermarket in Montmoreau is very good and the duck breasts were a firm favourite (6 mins each side on the bbq!) A word of caution when arriving if you are using sat nav do not go up the chalky track if coming from Montmoreau as it will rip the bottom of your car off. Go to the next turning and use a proper road (our satnav tried to take us up this track everytime) Tracy is a lovely hostess and gave us complete privacy although we knew she was willing to give any help should we have needed it. The only small thing I would have liked to have is cushions for the sunbeds and seats on the patio but this is no way detracted from our holiday. We certainly didn't want to leave! Wonderful!

Summary: Whilst looking for a quiet cottage to stay for a few days on our road trip south we decided on this charming property, Tracy and Dave the laid back owners who live in a separate property on site close by, were friendly and helpful when required. The flexibility of renting for part of a week to fit with our travel plans was particularly helpful. The cottage is spacious, modern and comfortable. Set at the end of a long lane amongst a few farming properties in a small hamlet and large forested area. A good nights sleep was very welcome and guaranteed every night. With the warm weather most evenings were spent at the rear of the property with a glass of wine and the barbecue lit enjoying some fine dining on local produce and taking in the beautiful views across the valley. The herd of cattle in the distance, sheep, pony and the cheeky cat keeping us amused as we considered how lucky we were. Nearby Aubeterre is an attractive place, set on a steep hill side. Small enough to walk around but large enough to keep one entertained with a hand full of restaurants, shops and bars. The Monolith church carved out of the cliff just around the corner from the main square is a must see, quite remarkable. back at the cottage on a really hot afternoon it was also a relief to take a dip in the above ground pool to cool off. This property is a little gem in a beautiful region of France and i would highly recommend a stay here. We enjoyed our time so much we have booked another longer visit for this year. Summary: If you need to get out of the way but stay in touch with everybody, this should suit English T.V. and Wifi, situated in a rural location easy to find when you get there. Clean tidy with everything you could want, eat in or out has a small BBQ and splash pool, plenty of animals to keep you company from very friendly cats to sheep and a lovely horse. a smashing holiday and would return.
