Its perfect location, only 30 minutes away from the International Airport, 1 hour to the Pacific beaches, and centrally located to the main attractions of Costa Rica, makes Casa del Sol your perfect vacation stay in Atenas. The center of this quaint and cute small town is only a 10-minute drive, where you will find a good selection of excellent restaurants, delicious bakeries, a weekly farmers’ market, and good-sized grocery stores.
Casa del Sol can sleep a total of 6. It has a colorful palette, a spacious open floor plan, and spectacular high vaulted wooden ceilings. There are large glass windows to enjoy the beautiful views from all angles and a spacious, fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove, fridge, coffee maker, microwave, blender, and lots of cabinet space. The master suite is enormous and has a gorgeous mountain view overlooking full-grown trees, which tropical birds like Toucans and Mot Mots visit daily. The two guest rooms share the second bathroom.
The house combines vibrant colors, Costa Rican art, and a tropical atmosphere, making it a delightful home to celebrate your well-deserved vacation.
The crystal clear pool is only a step away. It is perfectly positioned to utilize the sun all day to heat the water and get to the most comfortable temperatures for swimming and relaxing. There are two covered patios, a must in Atenas, where you can sit outside year-round. Tropical gardens with several fruit trees (mango, banana, orange, tangerine) are wrapped around the house. Discovering the gardens is like a walk in the park; stroll around to collect your fruits, and start your day with a tropical breakfast on the outdoor patio.

There is only one neighboring house across the street in a sparsely developed cul-de-sac.
Our property managers, Klaas and Sandra de Graaf, a multilingual (English-Dutch-Spanish) couple from the Netherlands, are ready to welcome you to Casa del Sol and will do everything they can to make your stay a great success. They can arrange for your fridge to be stocked with your favorite groceries upon arrival or for a home-cooked meal to be ready on arrival.
As an additional service to our house guests, we offer a fee-based airport pick-up and drop-off to help you avoid the potential hassles involved in the transitions into and out of your time in Costa Rica (something to consider when you have night-time travel plans, particularly but a nice comfort to have in any event). We also provide Car Rentals and tour services to all corners of the country; for example, visit Poas and Arenal volcanoes, La Paz Waterfall Gardens, Catamaran sailing tour, an Organic Coffee farm, Zip Lining, ATV, White water rafting, Horseback riding, Surfing, and other custom-made tours to our guests' requests, throughout Costa Rica.
Casa del Sol is a comfortable, light, and sunny home surrounded by lush nature views, a perfect place to enjoy your tropical Costa Rica stay!
Weekly cleaning is included for guests who stay longer than 10 days. Our wonderful housekeeper, Isabel, is a jewel.

Summary: Great place in a great location. The views are spectacular. I would stay there again. Hosts were also very responsive and helpful. A knife sharpener would be good to have for the kitchen, as knives were extremely dull; glad I brought my Buck knife. A steamer basket would also be useful for those who prefer to steam the fine produce available.

Summary: What a great getaway! My husband and I really enjoyed the beautiful view and comfort of the house. The kitchen was fully appointed (salad spinner! wax paper!) so I was able to prepare meals with ease. Our dogs had fun in the spacious yard, but the smaller one figured out that she could squeeze through the front gate so we had to keep her tethered. The property managers were extremely prompt and responsive. Great vacation house!

Summary: Lots of birds. Great neighborhood. We bought a house while we were down there but the house I really wanted, and sold before we got there, was in view of this property. It sat there and mocked me the entire stay. lol

Summary: Was such a wonderful home. Tucked into a small neighborhood outside of Atenas. Every accomodation was perfect from arrival to check out. Sandra, Marco and Klaas are the utmost best in arranging all of our excursions all week. And even an unplanned trip into Jaco for tattoos and the beach. Thanks for everything. Summary: We lived at this property for a month and a half; it proved a perfect size for a couple both inside and outside the house as surrounded by a well-planned and well-kept garden. There was always at least one plant or shrub in bloom, and since the house sits atop a small hill overlooking a treed valley you were immersed in various shades of green and treated to a daily abundance of birds. The bright lights of the encroaching township have not reached the property yet, so even the nights were a treat while sitting at the outdoor table to enjoy a starry-lit sky. We particularly appreciated the full-size pool - morning, noon and night. The house is older and the kitchen and bathrooms could use an update, but this did not deter our enjoyment of it, especially because the house was priced very reasonably in comparison to other newer properties in the area, and because of the thorough weekly cleanings by Isabel. The description is generally accurate save for noting that the Satellite TV is subscription-based and there is no land-line. We were in good hands with PMA - the property managers (including Marian, Sandra, Marco and Klaas) with airport pick-ups, drop-offs, a wide-range of tours available, and our initial grocery list which was stocked for our arrival. We did all of our shopping in Atenas, which is about 20 minute drive away. It was not necessary to rent a car, as we were confidently able to rely on the local taxi drivers recommended by Sandra for any trips to town, on Marco who is a professional driver for the tours, and for the rest of the team for any minor issues with the house. Thank you all for making this part of our stay in CR feel like home.

Summary: We stayed for a second time in this lovely property for two weeks (two retired couples in our 70's). The house has a lovely view, is spacious, and has comfortable furnishings and beds. This is a great place for bird watchers who want privacy and quiet surroundings. The hosts were responsive to our requests for help with minor issues and we look forward to renting from them again. I recommend this property for its tranquility, covered patio near the pool, and its spaciousness. It is a short drive from Atenas which has a great Coope super mercado which makes self-catering a breeze.
