Summary: We planned this trip as a last hurrah for my father-in-law as he is in poor health, cannot travel without a lot of assistance with his medical treatments, has never been to the UP and has basically been house-bound since 2020. We chose this particular house because, regardless of weather, he would have a perfect view of the Lake Michigan shoreline from the windows of the home. This was a good decision as the weather was cold, rainy and very blustery the entire time. The inlaws enjoyed having the entire upstairs to themselves and, since mobility is such a challenge for them, we made every meal for them in the home. The refrigerator was broken, but we made due with coolers and ice outside (since the average temperature was 45°) and the host refunded a little over half a day's rent cost for the inconvenience. The house stayed cozy and the recliner was the perfect spot for my father-in-law to sit and watch the storms roll in - he said it was the best time he can remember having in a very long time. The kitchen was well-stocked, fresh linen for the bedrooms and bathrooms was available and the furnishing well lived-in. The cleanliness was not what I expected (previous guest's food stuck in the bottom of the sink, dishes/silverware still dirty, very dusty and cobwebs/dead bugs along the baseboards of the rooms etc) and the house smelled musty. This trip was truly for my in-laws (my husband and I have enjoyed many trips to the UP over the years) and they both really enjoyed the low-key vacation.

Summary: This home right on Lake Michigan was a great fit for our family of 6 adults and a toddler. The deck was perfect for taking in the view of the water. We enjoyed using the kayaks and paddle boat. The location of the house was just right for day trips to Mackinaw Island and Tahquamenon Falls. The Deer Park just across US-2 is fun for kids. We loved our stay at this house! I highly recommend staying here!

Summary: Great outdoor space on the water. Had fun with the kayaks and playing beach games. Beautiful flowers. Quiet with few other families sharing the beach. Very close to grocery store, dollar store and Mackinac Island ferry. Owner is easy to communicate with and responsive. Check in procedures is easy. There is plenty of room in the house with multiple beds, washer/dryer and kitchen. We enjoyed ourselves. The areas needing improvement are the cleanliness and furnishings. Although it was evident that the property had been recently mopped and vacuumed before we arrived, there was dust and dead bugs on numerous area of the home. Also, the inside has older furnishings and shows it’s wear. The property would be fantastic with an indoor refresh and some editing.
