Positive: The location is perfect, right on the lake with mesmerising views of the water, boats and birds. It's a 10 minute walk to a small shopping strip where you can get coffee and groceries. The house is very well equipped with BBQs, water equipment, outdoor equipment and a billiard table. The deck and balcony areas were idyllic places to eat together and relax. The lawn leading down to the lake was lush and well kept and the jetty was great. Great Aircon. Good bathrooms. Having access to a washing machine was very handy.
Negative: We couldn't check in at the designated time as we hadn't received the code and had to contact the host for this, but they did respond straight way. It wasn't really "wow" when we first walked in, more of a "whoa". The standard of cleanliness might be acceptable if a friend was lending you their holiday house, but is not at all appropriate for a high priced holiday rental. We had to clean some of the key spaces on arrival before we felt comfortable using them. The rumpus room was out of bounds for some guests and the child due to the mouldy curtains. Linen on one of the beds was soiled and appeared not to have been changed from previous guests. The BBQ's were really, really dirty. The house has lots of dust, fluff and cobwebs and needs a deep clean, and also a more thorough clean in between guests. Hopefully the host will be able to get to the bottom of how this happened, and our cleaning fee will ensure a more comfortable stay for the next guests.
Summary: Not quite what we expected, but there were many positives to make the stay enjoyable

Positive: Location was amazing and the sunsets and calmness were just what we needed. Kayaks, pool table, fire pit and huge grass area gave us hours of entertainment. Nearby bakery also had great coffee and food!
Summary: Our long weekend at Starfish Cottage was the perfect stay to relax and catch up with family.

Negative: No towels . The linen was dirty and unusable and kitchen wasn’t very clean .

Positive: Location is absolutely amazing. Absolutely loved the deck and water access with kayaks & sail boat. Queen bed mattress desperately needs replacing as it was very uncomfortable and the cleanliness could have some attention ie spiderwebs/dirty dishes/dusty. But the house was definitely equipped with everything we needed and wanted to entertain the kids for the weekend. Would stay again 😁
