Summary: This is one of the most difficult reviews I will have written. Firstly the exceptional positives; The location is wonderful and the Tasman Peninsula must be one of the most beautiful places in the world. The cabin I had (No:24) was nicely located and although I was not self catering, for those that do it was equipped with all you need and it also had a spa bath. Locally there is plenty to see and do with Port Arthur on the doorstep. Certainly one will need a car to get around and view all that this lovely area has to offer. For a self catering family this is superb choice. Negatives there are only two as far as I was concerned. Firstly the restaurant is not open on Sundays or Mondays and secondly the WiFi works only in the restaurant/ bar area. Telephone reception is minimal in the whole area. Now many may consider the lack of telephone and internet an advantage and I can understand that but I need to keep in touch so for me it was an inconvenience. I ate dinner in the restaurant and it was very good, the yellow tail kingfish was cooked precisely. You will see from the photograph my prawn first course also. I also show the before and after the removal of all the “grass”, totally unnecessary in my opinion. All in all a very good stay and finally a shout out for Molly a lovely young lady at reception.

Summary: We stayed in January with 5 people for 4 nights in two of the bay view lodges. They were located side by side, so spending time together was no problem. We were extremely lucky with the weather and never needed the heating. However even if it would have been colder that wouldn’t have been a problem as there is heating all ariund the lodges. It was very quiet and we could enjoy the calm of the Tassie bush. The lodges were spacious and clean and the bathrooms efficient. Breakfast & Dinner at the Bay Restaurant was outstanding and the staff friendly and nice. Stewart Bay Lodge is the starting or end point for the cape boat tours, so the jetty is right there. The boat trip around the capes is a MUST! Stewart Bay Lodge is the best place to stay in Port Arthur especially when it comes to meals. Don’t look anywhere else.

Summary: A beautiful quiet property right off the beach and with access to walking path to Port Arthur historic site only 10 mins easy walk. We had the older log cabins which were still excellent with nice lounge and two neat bedrooms. The kitchen had all needed albeit with old electric stove. The Restuarant on the property is only 2 mins walk from most cabins and had great food for dinner and good breakfast available each day. The staff were excellent - my son left his AirPods and we rang and they quickly found them and posted them back to us. The highlight is Stewarts Bay beach and incredible views and amount of walking tracks to just get out and enjoy the beautiful part of Tassie. We had mild weather in late Dec so pack for warmth and chill.
