Summary: I didn’t like the self check-in system. And it was difficult to make out where to park the car as the whole of the hotel grounds where covered in deep snow. It was not possible to have dinner at the hotel, unless you are part of a conference or pre-book with minimum 15 persons. I don’t like the dinner plate system either, to re-heat a meal left by the chef to warm up. Apart from that the room was very basic but clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. Only 20 minutes walk into the town where there are bars serving pub type meals.

Summary: The hotel is beautiful and the room was clean, cozy and comfortable. The breakfast is good and served in a beautiful building. We had almost no interaction with the staff as the reception was open on few hours only and we had to check in through a code. This made the experience a bit impersonal. Also was a pity that the restaurant was closed.

Summary: The rooms are tiny and absolutely basic. Quiet area (adjacent to large cemetery). Little deceptive advertising as the beautiful white building on the photos houses only the restaurant but no guest rooms.

Summary: We arrived to find interesting grounds and buildings. Our room, though adequate, was not exceptional. It felt more like a dormitory than a hotel. There is a sauna downstairs, but it was booked every night and we were unable to use it. The dinner and breakfast buffets were okay. Overall, we felt everything was a bit over-priced for what is offered. If you are interested in a quiet, peaceful stay in a historical setting, then this is the place for you.

Summary: We had a very nice stay at Stiftsgården. The surroundings are idyllic and there is a certain peace in the place. The room was comfortable, neat and nice and the beds were super comfy too. The plastic mat on the floor is not so nice but it's not such a big deal anyway. One thing we would have liked was a fridge in the room for our own drinks and food. Another downside would be the fact that the floor of the sauna was dangerously slippery when wet and there were no railings in the sauna at all. That would be very difficult for the elderly people I can imagine. Otherwise the fact that we could use the sauna was obviously excellent.

Summary: Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Despite it being low season, the hotel made every effort to provide a full service to the few guests that were staying. Rooms were simple, comfortable and clean with lovely views out across the snowy fields. As with the other reviews here, our room was not cleaned during the stay although we were asked by the staff a couple of times whether we required new towels and a room tidy but to be honest, it made a change to not have to worry about being woken early by room service! Breakfast was the standard European type with various meats and cheeses, local teas and coffee as well as cereal. I must mention how good the WiFi was around the hotel, much faster than my home broadband and with no stupid log in system! Marvellous. The hotel is slightly further out of town than others but I think this is reflected in the price. It seems to be aimed at the business market rather than visiting tourists. Despite this, the hotel is a 2 minute walk from the stunning riverside and surrounding parkland. I thoroughly recommend exploring the local area whilst staying here. All in all, a fantastic, stress free stay. We'll undoubtedly be returning again soon.
