The recent restoration of the house has been a labor of love, focusing on reusing materials: stone discovered under the old plaster, original terracotta paving, and chestnut wood for the ceilings. This unique blend of materials, combined with our meticulous attention to detail, creates an unforgettable, charming atmosphere. You'll always find tranquility in the house despite its proximity to downtown and distance from the summer bustle. The house is part of the private Borgo, with its first document dating back to 1522, nestled on the property of an ancient castle. It consists of three country houses: Villa la Maclura, Il Gombo, and a private house for our family. Each house features a pool, garden, chill-out area, BBQ, entrance, and car space. The villa boasts three bedrooms, two bathrooms, one lounge, one lounge-diner, one smaller lounge /bedroom with total privacy, one large kitchen, and one utility room spread over two levels (150 sq.m.). The villa's ground floor and first floor are exclusively for guests, while we've reserved the independent top floor to ensure all the necessary assistance for a relaxing stay.
We recently installed air conditioning in the south bedrooms on the first floor for your comfort. The north bedroom has a large and elegant fan with wooden blades on the ceiling. (All that was unnecessary before the summer of 2023, as the house's elevated location at 380 meters above sea level provided nice natural cooling.) We have also fitted all bedroom windows with mosquito nets to ensure a peaceful and undisturbed sleep.
Outside, you'll find a BBQ on the terrace garden at the ground floor level, perfect for al fresco dining. There's another BBQ in the large garden below, just a stone's throw from the private (exclusively for you) SPA. The outdoor area is fully equipped with comfortable garden furniture, inviting you to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
PLEASE NOTE
*Due to technical reasons, the bookings between 31 March and 11 May 2025 need to be made seven days earlier.
*Villa La Nicchia is part of a single property, the ancient Borgo of the family castle; it comprises three detached but close houses and is 5.5 km from the center of Alassio. You can reach it by driving a typical Ligurian road, with two lanes and a certain number of curves, except for the last stretch (1,2 km), which is narrower for orographic reasons.
*The SPA, a private and relaxing property feature, is generally unavailable from the end of October to late March/mid-April due to the heating pump's inability to warm the water up to 30° if the external temperature is less than 15°, particularly at night. However, we encourage you to inquire about the current situation, as we must consider climate change and the recent upside-down seasons, which may affect the availability of the SPA during the Spring.
*Reading and following the house rules are part of the rental agreement. You will receive both before you come.
*Flexibility is our policy about many things, mainly two extra fees we want you to pay as you go. So, we also apply it regarding the additional fee due for good LPG heating (1), which we cannot quantify a priori. We will calculate the consumption with you on the morning of departure; the cost could be € 5,5 per m3.
The final cleaning cost (2) is not visible on the website payment summary because it varies according to the number of people and the number of nights stayed. The minimum payment is € 100, and the maximum is € 160, to be paid on the morning of departure.
*For your information, Alassio's Municipality Authority deliberated on accepting a tourist tax, € 1,5 per person per night, with payments only from the property's owner, not from any platform.
*Check-in will not be before 4:00 p.m.; check-out will not be after 09:30 a.m.

Summary: The house is an old wonderfully situated house in the hills above the town. It's quiet and beautifully equiped to prepare even pizza in a stone oven (!). The hosts are wonderful and are always eager to help with anything. We had a great time staying there.

Summary: We had a great stay at the beautiful house. The hosts are super friendly and helpful. We got great recommendations for a beach/ Bagno and Restaurants and they were always here to help. They were extremely accommodating and understanding about a private problem we had, what we highly appreciated. Thanks again! A few things could be improved to meet our higher expectations regarding the 500€/ night in total: The pots, pans and knifes in the kitchen are old and not really fun to cook with. We didn’t understand why we had to park the car outside the gate. With a toddler and grandma it could have been easier for us with all the grocery shopping and beach stuff. For this price we thought our stay would be a little more private. We didn’t know that there are two further rental houses on the same property and that the hosts live in the upper floor which surprised us the most. There is a wooden door which separates the rented area of the house from the upper floor, but they also have an own entrance. Having the host checking the garden once a day was a little odd as well in our eyes. We felt a little controlled from time to time. All in all a beautiful vacation with little things we weren’t fully happy with.

Summary: Two families stayed the long weekend here with 3 kids 10, 10, 8. It was beautiful and well kept, perfect little gem with a big property, covered semi heated pool and all the things you need in the kitchen. We enjoyed the sun, pool, gorgeous outdoor dinners and view. Very cool indoors at night. The host was so welcoming and booked us dinner 5 min away one night. Alassio is 15 min away down the windy road so convenient enough for a beach day and shopping in town. Easy parking. Just a perfect vacation spot. Wish we could have stayed longer. One thing to note, it wasn’t advised to use the pizza oven in a short stay but totally fine for a longer stay. Highly recommend.

Summary: Elisa and Riccardo are excellent hosts, the quaint house is beautifully located in the hills of Alassio. Kids loved the heated pool (and it is shaded, as you wish today for sun protection). The interior is lovely maintained, with small things making a difference. The equipment leaves no wishes open. If you look for a more remote place away from the busy ocean front, look no further. We rate it definitely 5 stars. One caveat: you need to be twisted roads-proof. It takes around 10-15 minutes through very narrow uphill roads to get there. But once you get there, you never want to leave again. Thanks Elisa and Riccardo!

Summary: We spent a week in Elisa‘s and Riccardo's villa in June and we were extremely impressed by its ambience and the wonderful view on the bay of Alassio. Added to this there are the friendly and committed hosts who were always very helpful. We all enjoyed our stay very much and we are sure that we will spend our vacation there again. Summary: We (my cousin and I , spent a wonderful time in this magnificent place!!! Everything was really perfect. Not only the house (there can`t be a better place anywhere in the world!), the overwhelming landscape, the incredible views but also our very kind and friendly hosts Elisa and Ricardo who completed this extraordinary experience!! Summary: The vieuw upon arrival was overwhelming. The Mediterranean colored with the weather and we discovered different shades of blue. There are 3 houses in a row. Only "our" house is visible in the foto's. Eliza en Roberto live upstairs in the appartment of our holiday home. Occasionally we heard them, but this was not annoying. They are warm and welcoming and quick to answer our questions of fix something if it was broken. They respected our privacy and made us feel good. They have adapted the interior to the old house. We think a little less stuff would enhance the strenght of the building even more. Outside everything was great: the garden, the spa and the area that is perfect for beautiful walks. In moglio there is a bakery with delicious crackers called Chiappe. The car is really a must to discocer beautiful places such as Alassio, Cervo and Albenga. We really discovered a piece of paradise on earth and would have to stay longer! Dear Eliza and Roberto, thank you so much and we will recommend your piece of paradise to everyone. Summary: This house has a 1 million $ view. Every morning we had breakfast outside with the view on the hills and the Mediterranean see. The house has everything. Full kitchen equipment if you like cooking. There was a separate dining room with lounge chairs in front of the fire place and a nice Livingroom upstairs. Beds were very comfortable. Once again we were in love with the location and the house and the owners Elisa and Riccardo were doing everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We definitely recommend this house and hope to return one day!
