Located in the heart of the pretty hamlet of Vernazoubres, Herault in the Languedoc National Park near Lac Du Salgou, Bedarieux, Lunas and Lodeve. The house has been sympathetically refurbished and modernised, with three comfortable double bedrooms, a galleried sitting room with exposed beams and a large open fireplace. Above the sitting room there is a separate seating area on a galleried mezzanine complete with a pool table. The downstairs sitting room has TV and DVD player together with a sonos sound system, which you can link to your own Spotify account. The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, cooker and dishwasher. To keep your white, and rose wine at just the right temperature, there is separate wine cooler. The large garage also houses a washing machine and tumble dryer. There are two double bedrooms downstairs, one with an ensuite bathroom. Additionally downstairs there is a separate fully tiled shower room and a separate WC. The upstairs bedroom has its own patio area overlooking a beautiful wooded valley. Across the hall from the upstairs bedroom is another WC.
Outside the house there is a private heated pool with a large patio area, complete with eight seat round dining table and brick built barbecue.
The pool will be closed from 1st Oct 2019, reopening in May 2020.
There is a separate elevated terrace with comfortable seating and lovely views, over the valley. Accessed through large metal gates there is a separate gravel area with ample parking for three cars.
The location is ideal for walking, cycling, fishing, canoeing, golfing, as a base to explore this historic region of Cathar Castles, beautiful villages and stunning beaches or just relaxing. It is situated 20 mins from Lac Du Salagou and the popular village of Octon, with Montpellier and Bezier Airports each an hours drive away. The Unesco World Heritage site of Carcassonne is 1hr 40mins away. There are many local vineyards to visit including some very good ones located in Faugeres and Octon.

Summary: We booked this property for a week in August 2019 to get some stress free time in the sun and unwind following festival week in Uzes. The property and location did not disappoint. The peace and tranquility hit the spot, a little difficult to navigate some of the narrow roads in a modern 4 x 4 but this is the South of France after all. The house is well appointed with everything that you need for a pleasant stay, particularly the wine fridge and the roof terrace. Thank you Chris & Lisa for letting stay in your house and unwind before heading back to the UK & work

Summary: It was an excellent stay which we greatly enjoyed. The house is large, comfortable and well set up. There is an excellent outside dining and sitting area, and smaller seating areas around the property. It is secluded, but in the centre of the village. The pool is well arranged and located and inviting. On the down side we were surprised that there were no written instructions for the use of the hob which was not intuitive. The kitchen light was also well hidden, but the owners rapidly responded to questions. Of rather more surprise was the internet connected security camera which scanned the seating and pool area. We trust the owners do not sit at home viewing this and we think they need to consider the privacy implications of this very carefully. We did not see any fire extinguishers or other associated equipment. Finally, the Homeaway system for joining instructions assume you have either an internet connected phone or i-pad. Why on earth they won't allow this to be printed off is beyond us, and just makes life more difficult. For this reason we would be unlikely to use Homeaway again (or to recommend it). This is a pity because it is not the owners fault and this is a very good property, but the owners could easily find other agents.

Summary: This house is locate in a rather remote location in the Languedoc so a car is required. However the area is lovely and you are within 1 - 2 hours easy drive of sites such as Carcassonne, St.Guilhem Le Desert, and the Mediterranean coast. We rented this home for a quiet week after two weeks of urban adventures. It was a perfect place for us. We enjoyed the small towns, pubs and restaurants of the area as well as walking trails in the hills. The house is welcoming and well-equipped. The owner was very helpful and accommodating. We used the fireplace, the outdoor barbeque, the swimming pool, and the comfortable patio . Neighbours were helpful and friendly. It was a great place to relax and rejuvenate.

Summary: Clearly a cherished family retreat with lovely features (wonderful fireplace and high ceiling) with mature fruit trees in the garden (covered in the most delicious plums when we stayed - less so now!). Clean and modern kitchen and super outdoor barbecue near the small but private pool. The location is incredibly special, tucked away with a few other homes in a wonderful wooded valley in the Haut Languedoc national park. We received very helpful recommendations of local places to visit from the owners from whom help and communication were liberally supplied when needed. If cycling, hiking or sightseeing are your thing then go here. Lovely and many thanks to the owners for letting us stay here! NB Guillaim le Desert is a must see for history fans.

Summary: This is a beautiful property set in a glorious location. The hamlet is wonderfully secluded but we found a great selection of restaurants in the surrounding area. You can go walking in the hills and forests directly from the door and the sea is only an hours drive away.

Summary: Great location - we flew to Bezier and only a 40-min drive from the airport - perfect for exploring the local area and under an hour from fantastic beaches. House itself was comfortable, clean and with all the amenities you would want and expect. Although there are lots of amazing restaurants in the vicinity, should we have wanted to cook there is a great sized kitchen, and a BBQ outside. There was plenty to do in the local area, but with the pool, would have equally enjoyed just lazing around all day taking in the gorgeous views!
