Summary: We loved the house - you feell immediately at home. We stayed there for 3 weeks and enjoyed every day. If you have a wide car, I recommend to use the parking at the entrance of the old town - 100m away. Very supportive host - thanks.

Summary: What a beautiful home. Quintessentially French (with much thought for English speaking visitors). The house is just gorgeous with stunning views from the terraces. Private areas where necessary. Evenings spent on the terrace unforgettable. Location perfect for cliff jumping / swimming. Fiona and Martin thoughtful and welcoming hosts. Saint Siffret is a gorgeous little village and the August night market was a special treat. Thank you - we will definitely want to return.

Summary: This is a dazzling place for a holiday. From the second floor patio, there's a sweeping view of the valley below St. Siffret. During our late September stay, we had perfect weather (mostly in the mid-to-high 70's, perfectly clear blue skies and sparkling sun). We spent many hours luxuriating on the patio, with a glass of wine, cheeses and charcuterie from the local markets (Uzes market, 3 miles down the road, Saturdays and Wednesdays is spectacular). When not trotting out to Avignon, the Camargue, Arles, Orange, Nimes or other easily accessible sites, we used the bounty from the local markets to make wonderful dinners in the well-stocked kitchen. Although we were a large group (6 and then 8 for a few days) the house was comfortable and quiet. Many nooks and crannies, including a covered downstairs patio with a comfy hammock, gave plenty of space for peace and quiet when needed. Because this is a heavy, old stone house with thick walls and solid floors, there was no creaking if someone was up in the middle of the night. Most notably, the house is inviting, with everything you could need, so we found we settled in quickly and comfortably. In addition to the wonderful markets so nearby, there's also a Carrefour just a few miles down the road for any odds and ends you might need. There are copious vineyards and olive groves, so plenty of places to buy excellent local wine and olive oil. A bonus for us, since we enjoy hiking, is that the Uzes area has 250 miles of hiking trails. We sampled a few and found them well marked and easy to follow, once you get the hang of their trail marking conventions. If you are looking for a place in the South of France that is conveniently located, comfortable and well-stocked, look no further than Maison McCann!

Summary: Maison Mcann was perfect for our two week family holiday. The house is beautiful, well set up for guests and comfortable and homely. The village is magical (and very quiet!) but everything you need is nearby (car necessary). One of our children needed to see a Doctor whilst we were there and we found clear, simple instructions for what to do. We also had a problem with the WiFi following a storm and Martin and Fiona sorted it immediately (from London!) Thank you both 😌

Summary: This lovely home in a small medieval village just outside of the beautiful Uzes was perfect. The kitchen, living area and open deck, with incredible views, are all aligned on one floor making for enchanted living and cooking. Preparing meals made from the product of daily markets became "art" rather than work. The kitchen has everything one needs. The spacious bedrooms have delightful views of the vineyard landscapes, are comfortable and well appointed with pillows, linens and duvets. The area delivers the beauty and charm of open markets, pottery studios, art galleries, cafes and patisseries. You can take long or short hikes by using by using the incredibly well developed French trail systems and the near by river is easily accessible. The owners speak both English and French and made navigating in a new environment quick and easy with immediate response to any question or request. This is an exceptionally charming home in a ridiculously beautiful village that is managed wonderfully by its conscientious and caring owners.

Summary: Maison McCann is situated right in the centre of a gorgeous mediaeval village and has terrific views across a valley to St. Quentin and further: complete with sunsets from the 2 terraces. The main terrace (1st floor) is off the living room which leads from the kitchen: convenient for serving wine & meals on the large outdoor table. Kitchen is modern & well-equipped & as with the rest of the house retains rustic charm. The smaller top terrace is accessible from 1 bedroom and has a lounger. The house feels spacious & benefits from high ceilings and has been appointed to a high level - definitely more a home than a rental. There are a fair amount of little areas to take time apart - sometimes a welcome feature if travelling with a large group(!) Arrival & departure were handled very well, considering we had some specific travel-related challenges upon arrival & all requests were handled quickly/efficiently. We loved having a proper washing machine on site & found the number of bathrooms to be a significant plus - in our group nobody had to share a bathroom! Ground floor & 1st floor bathrooms are excellent, top floor a little more of a squeeze due to the pitched roof. Parking was easy, just a couple of hundred feet away from the front door. The local bar/restaurant, 'L'Authentic', is a 4 min walk to the main square: quite steeply uphill on the way back! Staff there were charming - there's an outdoor terrace, plus opposite is a small village green for pétanque & shade. The village itself is very quiet & has few services - from what we could see just a convenience store with grocery basics, a hair salon & a restaurant/bar. Town of Uzès is actually about 5km away by road: very easy to access by car: there is a Carrefour with inexpensive petrol & diesel - one set of house keys has a Carrefour discount fob... Uzès itself is a jewel, and has plenty of options for cafés, apéritifs & dining. There are local artisanal olive oil producers & vintners with tasting rooms along the main road into Uzès - 2 euros a gallon for table wine! One comment about the house is that sound travels quite effectively between rooms on the same level: light sleepers and night-owls beware! The bread delivery man was 'en vacances' during our stay, so we obtained our fresh croissants, pain-au-chocolat and baguettes from town - recommend: 'Maison des Pains' in particular. In summer the 'Marchés Nocturnes' rotate through the local villages on Wednesday evenings and are good fun.

Summary: We just ended a fun and restful 3-week stay chez McCann. This is a wonderful house in a lovely, quiet, and very friendly village. The main terrace is heavenly, with views out to the Cevennes and the valley below Saint-Siffret. The bedrooms are quite comfortable, and the baths are well appointed. We had seven people in the house at one point, and everyone had plenty of room and privacy. The seating in the living room is more comfortable for 4, but with the weather so lovely at this time of year, we spent plenty of time on the terrace dining and hanging out. The drives to Avignon, the Pont du Gard, Nimes, and Arles are easy ones. And lovely Uzes is just 5 minutes down the road. Lots to do and see in this area! The talented (and very nice) potter, Mathilde, has her studio just across the street from the house. The village restaurant, L'Authentic, serves very good food. Definitely worth a visit.

Summary: We planned to spend Christmas with friends in southern France in a quaint french village, a little outside the main tourist sites where we could get a feel of the french countryside. Maison McCann provided us with this and more. The house was clean, warm, well equipped and large enough to accommodate the two families comfortably, with room for the 3 teenagers to play, the table tennis table being a bonus. We made good use of the open fire place and cooked up a storm on Christmas day in the well equipped kitchen. The village of St Siffret was quiet, we presume being winter. We spent time wandering the old town and countryside. The Old School House restaurant was a 5 minute walk away and served a great set menu with recommended accompanying wine. The l'epicerie was a 15 minute walk away, where you could get all your basics plus a good selection of charcuterie. We also found a local market at St Quentin du potteries, which had a fantastic range of fresh food, etc. Further afield was Avignon, where we stumbled upon the Christmas market, Nimes with it's Roman colosseum and Pont de Gard. Fiona was helpful, the booking process easy and the information sheet she sent prior to our arrival was comprehensive. The only challenge for us was getting used to the narrow streets and making sure we parked in the correct place. It didn't take long! All in all a memorable Christmas!

Summary: The pictures just don’t do this wonderful property and its fantastic views justice. I originally thought it looked austere (I’d urge the owners to change the picture but then everyone might book it). Really it is like a little Georgian stone village doll’s house. Inside it has been wonderfully designed for real comfort and the triple aspect first floor is lovely…could have settled in for months. Fabulously equipped kitchen, very comfortable living area with a useful desk and a stunning terrace which was hard to leave…we went out to eat rarely in the evenings (very unlike us) because it was so pleasant sitting on the terrace with a chilled glass of rose and watching the sun go down. St Siffret is a delightful quiet village perfectly placed in a wonderful area to explore - the Roman Aquaduct being breathtaking and the town of Uzes colourful and charming (and the exhorbitant price of a visit to the Uzes Castle well worth it) and both about 20 minutes away. Other huge pluses for us were the comfortable beds, good showers, cleanliness and general ambience of a much loved and extremely well cared for property. We will return…and probably stay longer..we really did not want to leave. Works extrememly well for two and when our guests arrived for four or six - everyone getting their own bathroom.
