4 Bedroom House in Topsham

A recently refurbished, substantial 4 bedroom semi detached house with masses of open plan living space. Offering sitting room, TV room/snug, garden room with glazed roof and bifold doors and big kitchen/diner opening onto a lovely garden. In a quiet location (cul de sac) in the conservation area of Topsham, Shapter House has valuable off street parking for 2 vehicles and is within 150 metres of the town's main street & quay,
Topsham offers wonderful boating, shopping, eating and many other great facilities. Exeter is just 15 minutes ride on the train (station 300 m or regular bus service 200m). Exmouth and other estuary villages are an easy train ride to the south.
The house has recently undergone a major transformation which include new oak floors, garden room extension, panoramic doors overlooking the garden and open-planning to much of the ground floor to provide a superb living space with numerous sofas, wood burner, inset gas fire and three wide screen smart TVs. Wi Fi, Netflix and on demand TV is also included.
The large kitchen-diner has an extensive well fitted kitchen, two ovens and microwave, dishwasher and granite worktops to provide a comfortable and practical room. Recently added full size smart TV ensures the chef or their helpers can keep up to date or relax while looking on!
The garden has also undergone a major renovation and now includes a dining deck under a pergola, lawned areas, stone patio and many interesting and exotic plants.
The downstairs also includes a cloakroom and WC and utility room with washer and dryer whilst the first floor has two bathrooms, (one en-suite), both with WCs and showers, the main with full size bath.
Master bedroom has large double bed, in spacious bay windowed room with further TV. Three further bedrooms offer doubles or twin bed in spacious rooms, bedroom four is a double bunk room.
Throughout are quality furnishings, original oils and water colours, new lighting and many interesting items to make this house feel like a real home.

Summary: A spacious and attractive house, which was very thoughtfully equipped. The garden provided an excellent place to eat and chat. We loved Topsham and its history. The owners were very considerate and helpful throughout our stay.

Summary: Very homely and comfortable property which has everything you could need for a fun stay. The parking can be a challenge but it encouraged me not to use the car which was a good think. Great location and transport links for the surrounding area. Highly recommend and we would consider returning for another stay

Summary: Shapter house is beautiful, high standard accommodation. A real home from home with everything you could possibly want. Perfect location for visiting lots of places around this area. A card and bottle of wine to welcome us was a lovely surprise. We were a family of 3 generations and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay

Summary: Had a week in Topsham at Shapter house with our family (2 children 7&10) and 2 sets of grandparents. Shapter house was perfect for our needs - plenty of space to spread out but cosy too! The garden is fantastic- a little haven! Parking is tight but we hardly used the cars so wasn’t a problem at all - train is literally 5 mins walk and we went to Exeter exmouth and dawlish on the train. We loved darts farm for a coffee, had a boat trip to exmouth n train back, visited Exeter - some gorgeous places to eat on the river. Had a trip to the Eden project as just over an hour in car - kids loved this. Topsham pool was a delight even though can’t book get there 10 mins early to ensure u can get in! Some lovely meals out - Nelson arms, puffing billy and the lighter inn. Can def recommend for all ages, couples, families alike Thank you Nick and Jane

Summary: We were extremely pleased with our choice of property. It was clean and tidy and extremely well equipped with lots of space. The kitchen was fabulous with plenty of utensils and equipment which is not always the case in holiday lets. The only slight issue we had was with the description of the parking. It is correct that there is parking for two cars which is a luxury in Topsham however the road to get to the spaces and the ability to manoeuvre was impossible in our large car. We managed to reverse down the road once to unload but would not attempt it again due to how tight it was. Other than that we had a fabulous stay and the communication from the owners was excellent. We would highly recommend this property and would consider staying again.

Summary: Great house in an ideal location for a stay in Topsham. We were very lucky with the weather during our visit and so were able to make good use of the garden for meals. House is very nice and ideal for an adult group with plenty of space. Parking is tight but I imagine it gets easier with practice!
