Situated in the south west of France and with a wonderful micro climate, this part of the Dordogne is known as the Perigord purple! There are four areas each given a colour, the purple represents the grapes grown all over the region. Although known the world over for its stunning wines the Dordogne is also famous for spectacular chateaux with amazing gardens, churches with famous organs, and restaurants with delicious food. The nearest seaside beaches are at Arcahon, 140 kms and worth a day trip, with the famous Dune de Pylar , beautiful sandy beach, designer shops and exquisite seafood restaurants. If you don't want to travel so far there are many beach lakes all over the region. You can also find several waterparks and other fun days out without having to look far. Summary: Wonderful property. Conveniently located less than an hour from most of the places we wanted to visit. It reminded us of the houses in Beauty and the Beast, but with running water, electricity and a pool. We had dinner under the outdoor covered eating area every night. One of us saw Tracey every day to ask questions about the place or the area. She was very available. Plenty of grocery stores and bakeries near by. Highly recommend the place.

Summary: Our family of four have just spent a wonderful two weeks in Tracey and Rob’s gite and are wishing we were still there. It was spotlessly clean, very well equipped with lovely furniture and décor. The outside space is amazing, beautiful suntrap of a courtyard, sparkling pool with comfortable sun loungers and then a lake full of fish beyond. What more could you want? The local area is beautiful with so many places to visit and things to do. We enjoyed lovely trips out to Bordeaux, Bergerac, to the night markets of Villefrance de Lonchat and Pizou, wine tasting in beautiful St Emillion, canoeing and paddle boarding at Lac de Gurson and a top notch lunch at Bucket’s Auberge Inn (which is within reasonable biking distance). Our 11 and 9 year olds also loved the high ropes and zip lines of Accrozarbres. Many hours were spent relaxing round the amazing swimming pool in the glorious sunshine. Our daughters loved staying at the gite - as well as the swimming pool, the table tennis table and swings were put to good use and when the sun became too much, the gite’s wifi was sufficient to power their gaming/Netflix requirements. Tracey and Rob were excellent hosts, we spent a lovely evening with them sampling Tracey’s homemade plum gin! They are very knowledgeable of the area, very friendly and happy to help whenever needed (thanks for the jump starts Rob!) yet you’d hardly know they lived next door. All in all, we had a fantastic holiday at La Maison du Lac and wouldn’t hesitate to book it again next time we’re in the area – which we definitely will be, as there’s still lots of places we ran out of time to visit and the weather is amazing!

Summary: Family holibobs Left on Jun 2, 2019 for a stay in May 2019 We thoroughly enjoyed our family holiday all 7 of us plus baby Maxy and our Bennydog. Great communication from Tracey all the way through and very helpful with extra questions etc. A lovely welcome and informative. Beautiful location very quiet, perfect for all of us, fishing, golf local markets, vineyards much loved. House provides everything you need very well equipped. Couple of extras would be bbq tools, foil in kitchen, tables by pool for drinks, more storage in bedrooms for clothes, containers in kitchen to put leftovers in. These are not at all criticisms just helpful points we thought of as a family. Tracey and Rob thankyou so much for being such lovely hosts and showing us round your beautiful place......we will be back i’m certain...xx👍🏾❤️👶🏽🐶🥂🍷

Summary: This was our first time staying in a gite and it will be hard to find another as good as this one. Amazing property with fantastic pool and lake. The house has everything you could ask for. Spacious, spotless and immaculately presented. The weather was great. so we spent a lot of time lounging around the pool or fishing the lake. We caught carp almost every day. Evenings were spent cooking on the barbeque and eating in the private courtyard. The local markets are great and the nearest intermarche or Lidl are only 10 minutes drive away. Tracy and Rob are a lovely couple and were always available to give advice when needed, but were not at all intrusive. All in all, a fantastic destination and property, which made this one of our best holidays in France. Thanks

Summary: Wow. Simply, wow! The photos do not do this wonderful house justice. Two weeks of peace, tranquility and a complete break from routine were wonderful. Sitting by the lake, watching the fish jump, the coypu wander and listening to the sound of nothing was just what the doctor ordered. That, plus swimming in the best pool we have ever rented, enjoying the beautiful weather and the sunshine on the terrace and making the most of the French markets! The house is well equipped with a high standard of furnishing and attention to detail. Tracey and Rob have made a beautiful home from home for travellers. Clean, really roomy and tastefully decorated, the 6 of us felt comfortable and had room to spread ourselves around the site - making full use of the shady outdoor dining room/area. Tracey offered a warm welcome and was always on hand with advise when needed. Rob enjoyed showing off his workshop to an avid fan, and Casper and Todd did their usual thing - living the wagging life of Riley! We had a wonderful evening celebrating a special occasion, and highly recommend Dmitri's chef services should you want to have an excellent and well cooked meal at the house. We really enjoyed the steak! We enjoyed days out to Bergerac, St Foy la Grande (and its excellent market - really the best in the area), and the beautiful village of Aubeterre which we thoroughly recommend. The underground church is awe inspiring and the shops and restaurants are charming - great ice cream too! Although we enjoyed our trip to St Emillion - the little train and the chateaux wine tasting are excellent - we were disappointed at the commmercialisation of the town since our last visit. Cannot recommend La Maison du Lac enough. A perfect holiday destination. Would bge a beautiful place to watch the seasons change in - who knows - we might be back!

Summary: Our family group of 5 adults stayed here for two weeks in late June/early July. The satellite box allowed us to watch as much of the World Cup as we could face. Beautiful weather with a few thunderstorms thrown in. We loved the idyllic setting, looking down to the lake from the pool. Great wildlife around the garden and lake. Tried fishing with limited luck but good fun. Tracey and Rob are lovely hosts, providing a welcome pack including a red and a white wine from the local vineyard which gave us a super start to the holiday. We can highly recommend the in-house chef who coped with the thunderstorm induced power-cut brilliantly. Excellent candlelit dinner, with no washing up! (Power came back soon) The gite had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and the surrounding area has enough restaurants, vineyards, entertainment and places of interest to fill any number of holidays. In short , we loved it! David and Caroline

Summary: We have just returned from the Gite at La Maison du Lac. This is a brand new purpose build barn conversion next to the owners property and we were privileged to be the first guests. The property is large and spacious and designed, finished and furnished to a high standard. If you have booked then you are in for a treat. As you arrive you enter, through double wooden gates, your own private gravel courtyard. Within the courtyard there is a beautiful outside dining area, a gorgeous comfy sitting corner and further double gates leading to a bright white terrace and sparkling pool, with views across the fishing lake and garden. There is a fantastic BBQ and pots with flowers and other nice decorative touches that give a feeling of comfort and luxury. Around the pool are a selection of loungers and quality pool towels are provided. The house opens onto the courtyard and is immaculate. Downstairs is a open plan space with beautiful furnishings and all the equipment you could need. Its is bright and light but remains cool. The stairs to the upper floor get a special mention as they are bespoke stone stairs and are quite a feature. Upstairs is gorgeous, with 4 large bedrooms, lovely wooden floors, exposed beams and finished to perfection. Beds are new and comfortable with nice linen and towels provided. There are 2 en-suite shower rooms and a lovely bathroom. It is a seriously delightful space. You will not be disappointed. The lake is full of fish, my husband and son caught several during our stay, mostly carp, but the big one got away (it really did). It is a delightful lake with a nice walk around it and many clearings to either sit or fish. Take binoculars (I did not and wish I had) to watch the wildlife. Especially the Red Kites soaring above you. Rob and Tracey are lovely, there if you need them and can provide lots of information on the area, but otherwise leave you to enjoy your holiday. We have been holidaying in France for 18 years and have seen it all, this is by far the best and is great value and a reasonable cost for a sensational Gite, perfect pool, fishing lake and a lovely location.
