Prepare to relax and unwind at Little Acorn, a charming but modern and fully equipped cabin tucked into the woods at Burr Oak State Park and lake near southeastern Ohio's Hocking Hills region. Take a hike around part of the 26-mile trail circling Burr Oak Lake. Use the trail to hike to Burr Oak Lodge for a burger and a beer. Enjoy fishing from one of the four docks, the shore or on the lake. Rent a kayak or a pontoon nearby. Little Acorn is minutes away by car from Dock 1 Marina, where pontoon boats may be rented, Dock 2 for kayak rentals, or the lodge for food and views. Kayak rentals, great coffee and the best root beer float at Burr Oak are available near Dock 2 at The Float Shack. The lake is gorgeous, surrounded by hills and trees and dotted with water lilies. Perfect for bird watchers, hikers, kayakers, paddle boarders, fishermen, pontoon captains or those just needing some easy and quiet R&R.
Little Acorn is located at the end of a lane and snugged right up against the woods of the 2600 acre Burr Oak State Park. Your only real company will be the birds (and maybe a box turtle or two you may see on a hike). We hope you’ll feel at home in this charming and modern two-bedroom, 2.5 bath cabin. Features include a large living room with fireplace, eat-in kitchen, laundry, main bedroom with en suite bath and king bed, second bedroom with queen bed and bath and an additional half bath off the kitchen. WiFi and large screen Roku TV for streaming all your favorites. Grab a cup of coffee and settle in on the covered and comfy front or back porch, each featuring a hanging swing and other seating to enjoy the morning sun or afternoon shade. There’s a gas grill waiting on the covered back porch. A large firepit with more seating and provided firewood are ready to help you make more memories.
Little Acorn is located four miles from the small towns of Glouster and Trimble, so bring your groceries with you or take a break and visit any of the restaurants or retailers in the greater area. Nelsonville, Logan and Athens, three much larger communities, are 20-30 minutes away. There's a small Kroger in Trimble and a deli/convenience store in Glouster. Hikers and cyclists are enjoying the new Baileys Trail, with nearly 100 miles of improved wilderness trail, and the famous Old Man's Cave is a half hour away.

Summary: We visited our family in the area and stayed here. It was clean and comfortable, and is really beautiful house and so peaceful. We had everything we needed and check in was smooth. Owner allowed us to add an extra day at the last minute due to an unexpected change in our travel plans.

Summary: Truly if I could give this home a rating higher than a 5 I would!! This place is set in the country where it’s incredibly peaceful and the home itself surpasses any VRBO place we’ve ever stayed. It has absolutely everything you need to be comfortable and more. They even supply your wood for that awesome fire pit . Did I mention the swings?? This home says welcome the moment you enter!! Highly recommended! Thanks for sharing your beautiful place!

Summary: Great house for a family get together in a beautiful setting. We loved both the front and back porches! Kitchen is well stocked for cooking which is helpful. Cheryl was great to work with! We may book again when we come to visit our kids at OU!

Summary: Burr Oak lake is a hidden gem. Married a man from the area Chicago girl. We have travelled here since 1980s but with a large family housing in this area is anemic. We camped, RV’d, lodge, Burr Oak cabins, fishing cabins….but THIS…this is the real deal. I think this cabin was built to rent. Spotless, Roomy, beautifully decorated, well stocked. I prepped a thanksgiving meal for 20 at grandmas house in this kitchen and recovered for a day a cozy living room streaming movies the day after. Highly recommend.

Summary: We stayed at the Little Acorn Cabin for the Bobcat Trail Marathon at nearby Burr Oak State Park. This place made for the perfect home base: close to the race, but far enough away to be peaceful and quiet. The place was lovely and well-appointed, and even with the cooler weather, the gas grill and covered back porch allowed us to refill our proteins after the race. We would definitely recommend this rental!

Summary: We had an amazing stay. The owner was incredibly gracious when asking to add another day at the last minute. The house has beautiful high ceilings, 2.5 baths which is nice and ample opportunities to sit outdoors and enjoy the beautiful scenery. This is a great location for staying close by for activities as there are trails in abundance. If you’d like to travel a bit further in any direction, this home is a great center point. Thank you for inviting others into your home to enjoy a beautiful weekend away!
