Positive: The barge - actually more holiday apartments than a B&B -and its (interior) decoration in the style of 50s&60s in almost every detail is fantastic. The location is near to shopping and eat&drink facilities and only 15min walk to the streetcar going into town. The little apartments with balconies right above the water are very nice. Fully equipped kitchen (see 'breakfast' below). Location is very quiet at night - at least normal nights, we stayed on the day of 'fete de la musique' which was also fun!
Negative: Actually nothing, just one small caveat: the booking says 'Breakfast included', which means in this case that you have a fully equipped small kitchen - plus a bit of foodstuff provided - to self-prepare your breakfast. Which was no problem for us at all.

Positive: It was definitely a unique property. The owner did put a lot of attention to detail for the vibe it is going for. It was a convenient location for things around that end of the city, which seems to be an up and coming area. There was a nice cluster of restaurants along the water. The little “balcony” was a nice place to have breakfast or a late night drink or snack. There is a lovely breeze you get when sitting out there. It seemed pretty quiet to us while we were there although the area can get lively some nights. The owner provided some water/drinks and light snacks which is a nice touch.
Negative: It wasn’t so convenient for accessing the city in general. The walk was only about 15 min or so to a tram but at times it felt long. The bus stop is really only 5 min away but as it only comes every half hour, that is less convenient. I somehow missed when booking that the boat is located more in a more secluded dock slip (with lots of docked boats), so just an FYI as it surprised me when I saw the location. The chairs on the upper floor fit the decor but were not very comfortable as you could feel the springs. I think a few others commented and suggested more pillows (as there are only 2) for the bed and we would agree with that. I had forgot reviews that mentioned no soap/shampoo so that is also a little unfortunate when you arrive later in the day and then have to go out for essentials like that. We didn’t have issues with the layout but anyone with mobility issues should take note about all the reviews regarding the stairs and access. The Wifi had been good initially, but then wasn’t accessible the last few days (we didn’t actually reach out to the owner about it and just used the generous data plans we had). The owner also had good communication except our final morning just a couple of hours before checkout time is when he reached out about the tourism nightly fee and requested I leave the amount behind in cash. I luckily had enough on me, but if I hadn’t, it would have created some stress trying to manage that and meet our timeline for catching our train out of Bordeaux. Hard to know how things would have been handled if I hadn’t had the cash on me, but it would have been better had he communicated about it earlier.
