Positive: Heating is good & easily set. Kitchen well equipped. Property is right on the road, so car noise can be disturbing if windows left open but ok if windows closed.
Negative: As a rule I never book at a property with only a few ratings. Unfortunately I broke my rule. This property is definitely NOT a 10. Firstly cleanliness is poor - there was a dirty old sock lying on the floor of the one bedroom!! The kitchen was dirty - a mouldy plastic bowl in the fridge, oven was dirty, plates and ovenware dirty, and drawers filled with crumbs/dirt. The bathroom & bedroom drawers had dust/dirt & hair in them. The lounge couch needed a vacuum - covered in crumbs. Besides lack of cleanliness, the cottage is not that comfortable - no where really to sit comfortably if you more than 2 people...the lounge has a low-back couch (photo attached), that technically 3 people could sit in a tight row next to each other, and then one other chair, but that chair is hidden from view (behind the door) for the person sitting on the right side of the couch. To note while the two bathrooms are a big plus point, in the one bathroom the toilet is squeezed into a particularly small space. Conclusion, unless you want to be cleaning other people's dirt on your holiday, I would not recommend. (Even if the property was cleaned properly I think it is overpriced - besides the kitchen which is very well kitted, the rest of the house is very much basic 'Ikea', including not very comfortable beds - does not justify price).

Positive: Really well kitted out kitchen (shame we didn't cook there as there for a wedding), modern appliances and bathrooms. Comfy beds & nice furnishings. Host very responsive - good property handbook supplied as well, including instructions on how to find the property.

Positive: The lodge was very clean and spacious. It had its own garden and patio which would be lovely on a warm summer's day. The kitchen was well equipped. The hosts were very friendly and efficient. We had problems getting sound on a television but Pete was there within a minute to sort it out.
Negative: We arrived on a dark wet evening and the property was not easy to find. Admittedly we had just come off a very delayed flight to Gatwick so we weren't entirely with it. It didn't seem possible to adjust the heating in any way. The radiators were really hot at 5am (when we didn't need any heat) but then off for the rest of the day. Although there were individual thermostats on the radiators it wasn't clear what setting they were actually on.
Summary: We didn't have the best of weather, but in the summer the lodge would be lovely for a family.

Positive: The property was spacious, clean and private with a great, well equipped kitchen/dining room and plenty of parking - perfect for a family or two couples.
Negative: We were staying at The Lodge to attend a family wedding, and whilst only a small thing, it would have been nice to have a full length mirror.
Summary: The Lodge was just perfect for us.

Location was chosen to be close to family - we pretty much only slept there so didn’t really make use of all facilities (other than glasses for wine after a hard days grandparenting!). Might have been a bit extravagant given the minimal time spent there, but location and privacy made it worth it. Host greeted us on our first evening - nice chap!

Negative: It is quite close to a busy road so it was quite noisy when sat outside, but my little one could still happily safely play in the garden without worry.
