Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: It’s a very characterful 17th century old pub hotel right in middle of very attractive Cotswold town . Lively atmosphere in the pub with good restaurant . Hotel rooms spacious and clean . Staff enthusiastic on service if a little unpolished !
Negative: The WiFi was a bit 17th century You have to have a night key after midnight as no one on duty like normal city hotel . You never think you’ll be that late but when you’re having fun…,
Summary: Oldey worldey jewel in great setting in oldey worldey town

Reviewer Type: Solo Traveller
Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: Location; friendly staff; bathroom; cleanliness
Negative: my room incorporated an illuminated "Fire Exit" sign which bathed the room all night with a green glow bright enough to read by. Not having packed a facemark, sleep was difficult and the thin walls didn't help either. The lasagne at dinner would have made an Italian weep but it was inexpensive and cheerfully served. I didn't risk a cooked breakfast in case the guy who made the lasagne was still in the kitchen but the serve yourself buffet was more than adequate.
Summary: OK but only just - avoid room 3 and the lasagne

Positive: Great pub / hotel with fresh and home made traditional food with wide variety available. Rooms were modern and tastefully decorated with a lovely with view of the rear garden.
Negative: In my humble opinion I thought the overall cost of £180 was astronomical for one night to be honest, especially as this did not include a cooked English breakfast, only a continental type section at breakfast time was included within the £180. There was of course an option to enjoy hot cooked selection but this was around £10 extra per person. Which again I thought a bit steep and didn’t represent fair and good value for money.
Summary: Lovely hotel, great bar / pub food but extremely overpriced on this occasion
