Positive: It was indeed a fabulous view. The cottage was nicely arranged and clean.
Negative: Although a fabulous view, we found it difficult to locate usable footpaths nearby and ended up a bit disappointed with the walking. This was really surprising given the setting.

Positive: Stunning views in a remote location. Extremely quiet and undisturbed. A very comfortable king sized four poster bed. An excellent shower in the bathroom.
Negative: Arrived at the cottage after a four hour drive, arriving at 5.00pm to find out that the accommodation had not been serviced from the previous occupants. So was faced with dirty used towels, used bedding, leftover food on the table, a blocked toilet, and a generally dirty cottage. Contacted Sykes Cottages, the management company, who arranged for a cleaner to come out. One and a half hours later, a cleaner arrived to change towels and bedding. Announced to us that if we wanted drinking water, we would need to go into the nearest village to get bottled water as the water in the cottage was not on the mains. (It was running brown from the taps) The cleaner placed some product in the toilet to try and unblock it, announced that she would not be sweeping the floors, as she had done them a couple of weeks ago and then left with the toilet still not flushing correctly. The cleaner said that she would make sure that the toilet situation was sorted. Before she left, she noted that the fire had not been cleaned, but that the ash container was too full for her to empty...so that was left. My wife and I had to clean the floors and the rest of the cottage ourselves. After four days of having no proper working toilet, we again contacted Sykes Cottages, and whilst we were out, someone entered the cottage and cleared the problem. This was not the relaxing and isolated holiday break we were expecting, as each day we had to travel to local cafes to use the toilets. The owner has not left a useful holiday folder, and information was sparse, to say the least. As it was not the relaxing break we had planned, we decided to leave earlier than originally planned. On removing the bedding, we were alarmed to see patched of dried blood in several places on the duvet. The issues raised are such a shame, as the cottage offers fantastic potential, is in a beautiful location with stunning views.
