Onset is a charming coastal town known as the "Gateway to Cape Cod" as it is the last town before crossing the bridge to the Cape. Centrally located between Boston and Rhode Island and only 20 minutes to historic Plymouth, it a convenient location from which to explore New England. 6-minute drive to Mass Maritime Academy. Less than 15–20-minute drive to upper Cape Cod: Bourne, Falmouth, Sandwich. And just over 30 minutes to Mid-Cape towns such as Hyannis, Dennis, and Yarmouth. (Times do not factor in traffic conditions)
For families members having trouble with stairs, there is one bedroom and full bath on the first floor as well as a sleeper sofa in living room. 2 Bedrooms and another bathroom on 2nd floor.
Very short walk to Onset Village (family-owned restaurants and year-round festivals) and pristine Onset Beach. Open floor plan on main floor perfect for vacations, Cape Cod wedding guests, and out of town family. There is a small neighborhood beach 4 houses down that is perfect for families with young children. Then a larger beach another 4 houses down. Onset is on Buzzard's Bay, so the water here is warmer and calmer than typical ocean tides and has soft sandy beaches (less rocks but great shell collecting). Walk to kayak and boat rentals, Cape Cod Canal Cruises, and the Water Wizz seasonal water park is only a 5-minute drive.
We have received many compliments on the coastal theme, providing a relaxing retreat as soon as you walk through the door. Gorgeous wrap around covered porch to enjoy your morning coffee, evening cocktail or gaze upon Onset's spectacular, colorful sunsets. Turn on the fairy lights for added sparkle at night. Loaded with amenities: hot/cold outdoor shower, beach cart, beach chairs, beach towels, cooler, patio, gas grill, full kitchen & laundry, indoor fireplace, jetted bathroom tub, and all bedrooms and living room are equipped with smart TVs.
There is a lounge area outside for anyone wanting quiet time in the coastal air (or teen refuge) with a good book or simply an afternoon nap amongst the outdoor decor and seashell landscaping. Enjoy our coffee/tea bar with to-go cups to fuel up and begin your adventures. Pack and Play, toddler utensils, booster seat and children's books available onsite. The Zandy Castle, is named after my mother Sandy. It was built in 1880 - exterior Victorian charm with a modern interior. Onset was a seaside resort in the Victorian era for wealthy Bostonians. You will still see Victorian homes sprinkled around town today. The Zandy Castle was presented with a plaque from the Wareham Historical Society which recognizes historical homes with unique period architecture.
Since we want you to truly relax and enjoy your vacation, there is no laundry list of "chores" to do before checking out. Afterall, isn't THAT what the cleaning fee is for?
Your stay at the Zandy Castle is our top priority and we will go out of our way to ensure you have an amazing experience! Summary: This place is beautiful. Everything was just as listed. The owner was very very helpful and communicative! This location is in close walking proximity to beaches and the charming town. The renovation they did on this historical home is pretty amazing. I recommend and would stay here again!

Summary: The porch wraps around the front of the house. There is a little bit of yard with a tranquility area and an outdoor shower. Walking in from the door next to the driveway, you enter a good-sized kitchen with a bathroom directly in front of you and a laundry room with full-sized washer and dryer ahead and to the left. There is plenty of dining space with a kitchen island and stools and a dining room table. The kitchen, dining area, and living area are all one open space. Next to the downstairs bathroom is a guest bedroom. Upstairs is another guest bedroom, a master bedroom, and a bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. All the interior decorations and furnishings are clean and beach-themed. Each bedroom has its own TV. Plenty of space, we felt safe and secure, and enjoyed our walks to the water. The hostess was prompt and courteous with her communications.

Summary: 3 nights at Zandy Castle, felt like 3 weeks and we were very sad to leave. The home is beautiful, lots of little details, special touches, that made the difference from other rentals on our roadtrip. Wouldn't change a thing, and would not hesitate in recommending to others. We have never stayed in the area before, and staying in October meant it was quiet, but that is what we needed. Just beautiful - thank you Melissa!

Summary: This was, by far, the best VRBO experience we have had. The location was perfect for us as a home base to explore Cape Cod and the surrounding areas. The historic house itself is gorgeous and the owner is very responsive and has thought of everything to make the Zandy Castle a home away from home. The beds are comfortable, we really appreciated the coffee bar with take away cups, the kitchen is fully stocked and my family enjoyed the board games and books. We loved sitting on the front porch in the evening with the fairy lights that came on after dark. The neighbor was super friendly and gave us a good pizza recommendation. It was a bit too chilly to spend much time at the beach during our stay, but I imagine in warmer weather that we would have taken advantage of the house’s proximity to the ocean. Our kids were ready to live here and didn’t want to leave! We would love to stay here again one day.

Summary: Exceptionally nice house to stay in, it’s completely renovated you will think you are in a new house not one built in 1880 but it still has all the charm that was originally put into it. None in our group had any complaints with anything this place has to offer. I was surprised how well stocked the entire house was all we needed was food everything else we could need was already there. Melissa the owner was awesome she stayed in contact through VBRO asking if we needed anything many times. The location was perfect for us as we had other family staying in a house about the same distance south of the bridge. We typically walk most of the time unless we are leaving the area. There is plenty of room inside and out when you have some downtime it feels like home not a strangers house. We all would stay here again the next time we visit onset. My wife and I had some questions about some of the items inside and where Melissa acquired them and she sent links so we could easily find these items we were interested in. I would say Melissa is truly interested in everyone being totally satisfied with their stay in her home she went out of her way to make this the perfect Labor Day weekend for us. Paul R

Summary: The Zandy Castle is an excellent home to book for a visit to the Cape Cod area on vacation. We initially booked because the location in Onset was a more quiet alternative to staying directly within Cape Cod while still being very close and easily being able to cross the bridge to the Cape. The home is exactly as described in the listing and it exceeded our expectations. There is more than enough space for the 6 adults and 2 small children and the amenities are fantastic. The care and quality given to restoring this beautiful Victorian era home are evident throughout and you can expect all of the modern conveniences here. For those wishing to spend time at the beach the home provides four (4) beach chairs, an umbrella, and a great wagon to help carry it all to the beach of your choice. There are also a lot of beach towels available so no need to pack your own, a big bonus. There is a small one just four houses away and two others within a ½ mile of the home. These are all great beaches with no wave action making them perfect for our three-year old grandson to enjoy and play in the water without concern for the challenges associated with an ocean beach. There were many restaurants within easy walking distance and the hosts were extremely helpful with suggestions. The host provided us with great information about the area and specific recommendations for a few specialty restaurants we were looking to try. The communication was excellent. Our only regret was we had just 4 nights.
