Thatch Hill is a spectacular 3 bedroom villa located on the North side of Grand Cayman, approximately 300 yards east of the Rum Point Restaurant and Bar. It is a unique residential area that is a 55 minute drive from George Town and the Owen Roberts Intl Airport.
Thatch Hill boasts stunning views of the sparkling Caribbean Sea, and the reef beyond, and it boasts a large freshwater pool with spectacular views of the beach and a spacious full-width screened porch with an outdoor dining table for sunset dinners and drinks. A protective reef provides excellent snorkelling and kayaking, just steps off the pool deck!
The interiors are bright and sunny with a spacious and comfortable beach house vibe. An open-floor plan divides the house with a large vaulted great room in the centre and bedroom suites on each side. The living area comes furnished with a comfortable sofa and love seat, large flat-screen TV, and sliding glass doors onto a screened porch.
A full modern kitchen comes equipped with standard appliances, a beautiful breakfast counter with bar seating for four, and a dining table with seating for six. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your cooking needs, so you will feel right at home! There is also a charcoal BBQ if you would like to cook outdoors and enjoy the sea breezes!
For work-from-home professionals, a new high-speed fibre internet connection is available at the property, to keep you connected to work, family and friends. Multiple users and devices can now connect to the web to work or learn remotely with reliable speeds and increased bandwidth.
There are 3 amazing bedrooms (enough to comfortably sleep 8 guests), and two of them have sweeping views of the beach and the Caribbean Sea beyond! The primary suite, to the west side of the house, has stunning views, with a large comfortable king bed, and walk-out access to the screened porch. It also has a large flat screen TV, and an ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower.
There is a brand new modern bedroom on the west side of the house with a queen bed and ensuite bathroom. The family/children's suite, on the east side of the house, has incredible ocean views, a comfortable queen bed and a set of bunk beds, perfect for small children. There is also a large TV, and ensuite bath with dual vanities, and walk-in shower; plus walk-out access to the screened porch.
Finally, the proximity to the Rum Point Club is perfect, as it is only a 5 minute walk or a 2 minute drive! So close enough to be an easy walk to restaurants, bars, and water sports, but far enough away for our guests to escape the crowds! The Kaibo Yacht Club Restaurant and Bar is a 5 minute drive away, and then there are other restaurants within a 20 minute drive such as Over the Edge, in North Side and then Tukka, Vivenes Kitchen, and Big Yard BBQ, all located in East End, to name a few!

Summary: We had no trouble. The check-in process with directions was emailed the day before. It took a little while to adjust to driving with directions. The roundabouts were a little confusing at first. The house was exactly as described in the listing - beautiful. The snorkeling out back was incredible. At first, we were concerned that the dark area may have been sharp coral and were hesitant, but a neighbor down the road shared that it was just seaweed. We were also concerned that the water was a little rough, however, once we got in and snorkeled you didn't notice and were fine. To the left passed the seaweed, there is a coral reef with beautiful fish. We found a star fish and several conch. I would advise to take a pool noodle as it does get deep really fast and you can stay for hours. The swimming pool was great in the evenings. The restaurants at Rum Point and just passed Rum Point were excellent. Red Sails rental is located at Rum Point. There is a public beach and we rented a kayak. We snorkeled out by Rum Point and there were several sting rays that came up right around us. Some boats came up and fed them squid. We also took Red Sail out to Sting Ray City and snorkeled the large reef. The adult kids walked back to the house one evening and went for coffee down by Kaibo Beach restaurant several mornings, although the house has a Keurig coffee maker, and we purchased cups. Chisholm's Grocery store just down the road had everything we needed to make the stay perfect.

Summary: Your for sure paying for the view! If you have the extra money to spend it’s worth it. It’s quiet and so relaxing. Everything you need in a home is provided. I would suggest getting all your groceries before you settle in. It’s a long drive to get to a reasonably priced grocery store (if there is a such thing). We liked Fosters the best. There is not a Walmart or a similar type store so you will need to get toiletries there as well. This home did provided plenty of TP,laundry detergent, dish soap and dishwasher liquid and plenty of trash bags just so you know not to buy that ahead of time. It did save us money not getting those things. The beds were great and plenty of towels. All around a wonderful home.

Summary: This was our second property we stayed at while on holiday on Cayman. Property management company provided the wrong house number on their check in documents. We were able to locate the home by googling/mapping it ourselves. Communication with property managers was non existent via telephone. Day of check in I texted both property managers provided by management company and NEVER received a response from either of them. One came by the house to check up on how things were doing the day before we checked out. We found someone else’s underwear and belt in one of the master bedroom drawers and a used bath soap in the shower. Overall the property needs some TLC but it was nice. Best part is the pool and view.

Summary: We really enjoyed this small, lovely home on the water during our stay in Cayman. The snorkeling right in front of the house is fabulous, the pool is clean and well maintained, and the kitchen well equipped. We’d recommend this as a rental to a family.

Summary: Our family had a great time staying at this beautiful property! Each day, we snorkeled right outside the house and enjoyed all of the marine life! We saw eels, rays, many fish and on the last day we snorkeled over closer to Rum Point and saw a six foot nurse shark! We have traveled many places and this, by far, was the safest and most fun snorkeling. The house was great and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay! We mainly hung out at the house enjoying the pool and snorkeling but also took a charter out to stingray city, visited starfish point and the botanical gardens. Hurley’s was the best store for purchasing groceries. Highly recommend!

Summary: A nice home and an excellent beach. Fantastic view. Our only downside was the week we were there the water was pretty rough and had a lot of sea weed. Though it appeared to be calming down and clearing up the day we left. Maybe we were there on an off week, but all of rum point and the east coast had a lot of sea weed right off the beach when we were there.

Summary: We finally got to return to Cayman after a three year absence and couldn’t have been luckier than to have found Thatch Hill. It is the perfect size for a small family and in an ideal location. We loved being able to swim in the pool and see and hear the ocean at the same time, the snorkeling was fabulous as usual, and everything was clean and modern. We’re already talking about booking our trip next year. Highly recommend!!
