Positive: It's technically in east Harlem, with close access to Central Park. Plus you can go quickly to lower Manhattan if you have travel needs. The subway is 10 mins walk which makes it close.

Positive: The location is besides Central Park. Near bus stop and subway. I could walk to visit de MET. Perfect!
Negative: There’s a kitchen but we can’t use it.

Positive: I enjoyed that even though I was in busy New York yet it was quiet and I could sleep well. Location is good, you can be in the central area in 30-40 min by bus or underground. You get good value for money. I liked the easy way of payment by Revolut. The deli round the corner has vast amount of options for breakfast or light lunch between $ 5-10. Spent 5 nights here and I was satisfied, I recommend to stay here if you are on mid budget.

Positive: The communication with the owner went very smooth and quick. Help with payment options, Revolut is similar to creditcard payment, but via an app. The host helped me an hour before the official checkin what was great in combination with my arrival. After that, museums to visit were literally around the corner, less than 5 minutes walk. I asked for possibility about later checkout since my return flight was in the evening and he was very grateful !! Thanks again. Also the fact that you were in for a nice chat about transportation tips, culture et cetera while my other experience earlier in NY (hotels) was not as nice as you do. The average New Yorker is too hard focused at work, so I really liked the personal experience in your guesthouse!

Positive: It was cheaper than the extortionate prices of hotels in New York City. There was an empty bus every 15 minutes to take me to the subway to go downtown.
Negative: There were no blinds at the windows. The “private” bathroom was outside my room. I had to pay by Zelle - they didn’t take a credit card. I got no receipt. I asked and asked for a receipt several times and got no reply.
Summary: Clean, not too expensive. Poor communication.

Positive: I had an amazing stay at this rental! The flexibility in communication and the possibility of an early check-in were fantastic. The host was a true gentleman—he even helped me with my luggage. Due to a change in my travel plans, I needed to extend my stay for an extra day, and he was incredibly accommodating and kind. He was very respectful and engaging, and we had great conversations about our cultures. The house is in a perfect location—very close to shops, restaurants, Lidl, and even Central Park. The room was comfortable, and the entire place was exceptionally clean. I felt safe, peaceful, and energized during my stay. Transportation was also very convenient. The bus stop was only a 4-minute walk, the metro station just 7 minutes away, and Times Square was a quick 20-minute metro ride—super convenient! Without a doubt, I will return to this home every time I visit New York!
Negative: I wished I had a window overlooking the street or a garden, as my room only had a window facing a ventilation shaft.

Negative: The whole booking experience was terrible because the company which manages the booking did a very poor job. They included an additional late check-in fee of 84$ which is not mentioned anywhere - with check-in at 9pm not middle of the night (!). They also have a late check-out fee and a policy of no luggage storage in case one wonders. They asked my credit card details several times for no reason even after the fee was fully paid and tried several times to upgrade the my reservation for a fee. Hopefully I will get the 100$ deposit back at some point... The room is extremely basic - literally just a bed and a rack. And considering what you can get in the same area for just a few more bucks and the headache of dealing with this booking company, I would discourage others to book this place.
