1 Bedroom Cottage in Jonesborough

The Eggplant Cottage is just a few steps from the new Chuckey Railroad museum and adjacent to the festival grounds of the International Storytelling Festival. The Norfolk - Southern railroad runs directly behind the cottage.
The cottage is roughly 630 square feet plus a screened in porch and an outside courtyard. One large living area fully furnished with sleeper sofa, lounge chair, storage coffee table, table and chairs and a sleeping area that includes a "Murphy" bed- queen size mattress- that folds up against wall or can be left in the fold down position. Two night tables, entertainment center including a 50" flat screen TV, AM / FM stereo, CD player, DVD player, record player, WIFI. A large ceiling fan and light are remote controlled
The entire cottage is very well insulated and has two heat pumps providing exact temperature control.
There is a storage area including space for hanging clothes, folded clothes, washer / dryer plus Iron and ironing board.
The cottage also has a small office with desk, chair and fold up chair.
The tiled bathroom includes a full size bath tub with shower, commode, sink and towel storage
Outside screened in patio includes a love seat and a table and chairs
Also there is a outside courtyard that is fenced in and landscaped. The perfect space for entertaining.
Two off street parking spaces are provided at the gate leading to the courtyard and screened in porch.
Built around 1925, this cottage was a single room with two doors. Over the years additions were built to add a kitchen and a bathroom. The cottage was vacant from 2008 until 2016 and it was sold to present owners in August 2016

Summary: Work and Play are stressful at times. Returning to The Eggplant Cottage at the end of the day became my sanctuary. The screened in porch and courtyard are an ideal place to start and end your day.Easy walking distance to local stores, restaurants, breweries, Storytelling Center, Museums and Community Theaters. The Cottage is minutes away from major thoroughfares for easy access to the area.On arrival, Jeff walked me through the property pointing out original details, upgraded amenities and how to operate each. The notebook showing the story and transformation of The Eggplant Cottage gave a sense of history. The various LED and energy star components proved you can keep original character and be environmentally responsible at the same time. The train, as it passed through town, was mesmerizing. When you are traveling to the Jonesborough area, The Eggplant Cottage is an excellent lodging choice. Thank you Jeff for saving a piece of Jonesborough’s history and giving others a chance to experience it with modern amenities and twists.
