We are not in Maryland or Virginia. We are Centrally Located in the District of Columbia. The community is ten minutes from downtown D.C. The flat is 1.9 miles from the U.S. Capitol, and Capitol Hill, and 2.4 miles from the White House.
The street is quiet and diverse comprising single -family homes and condominiums. The flat is a rare find; It is a well-lit basement flat with windows providing natural light in each room. There is an internet connection throughout the flat. You will be within walking distance, from the flat, of two subway stations ( the Red and Green Lines), and three bus stops (#80, P6 and G8). Otis’ Place is fully furnished and equipped and is maintained in move-in condition for your convenience.
Flat Features Includes:
The Living Room has three windows; a queen size sofa bed, a loveseat, writing desk with chair, television, and games. There is a standing oscillating fan.
Each bedroom has a window air conditioner unit. The bedrooms have: real beds, doors, spacious clothes closet with hangers, a chair, a nightstand, a lamp and extra towels and linen. In addition, there are extra electric plugs (in the bedrooms) for charging stations.
One bathroom with shower, tub and sink.
Eat-in-Kitchen with full size stove, refrigerator, microwave, cooking and eating utensils, dining table and four chairs. Backyard Patio with a privacy fence, grill, and seating area ( table, chairs). There is a standing oscillating fan in the kitchen.
Access to a shared laundry room with a washer and dryer, which is located next to the flat off of the patio.
NEARBY ACTIVITIES
A bike rental station is across the street from the flat. There are other bike and scooter rental stations throughout the neighborhood. In addition, there are car sharing companies (Zip Car, Move, and Car to Go) parked throughout the neighborhood. D.C. Parks and Recreation Center (Harry Thomas Recreational Center) outside pool is open to non-D.C. residents for a minimum fee.
A golden nugget in the community is the Metropolitan Branch trial ( informally known as the Met Trial). It is a free 8 miles trial used for hiking and biking. One can access the trial less than a quarter mile from the flat. Traveling south on the trail will take you to Union Station (restaurants and shops) and Harris Teeters. Traveling north will take you to Silver Spring with stops along the trial at Catholic University, Restaurants, shops, and brewery. The “Kraken” with fourteen pickleball courts and roller skating is within 15 minutes from the flat (accessible by car, walking or public transportation).

Please be mindful that this is a working household, and the flat is a basement unit. Therefore, you may hear a level of noise as people get ready for work and come home in the evening.
However, we upstairs are also mindful that we have downstairs guests and are committed to keeping the noise level to a minimum.
Please be mindful that because of the ledge from the upstairs front porch as you enter the apartment there will be five feet (5) height on a couple of steps into the apartment. However, once inside the apartment the ceilings height runs 9 to 10 inches high.

Summary: Very clean and comfy . Just kind of hard to park at the very front but did the job. Very secured , has a small patio/terrace for a bbq time (we didn't use it but its an additional option).

Summary: This spot was just what we needed for our long weekend in DC. The location is great, the property was super clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Mattie went above and beyond in assisting with the check in process and was very nice throughout our stay.

Summary: This was a great apartment - everything was as described, and actually ended up feeling more spacious than I anticipated! My husband and I traveled with our 11 and 19 year olds, and I was a little worried that we would feel cramped with my daughter sleeping in the living room, but because of the way the apartment is laid out it didn't feel cramped at all. We really appreciated how well stocked the apartment was - toiletries, toilet paper and paper towels, even shampoo, conditioner, etc., as well as bottled water and snacks. The apartment was a little further away from the Mall/downtown than I wanted to be; we had about a 15 minute walk to the Metro and then a short ride to the Mall or other locations throughout the city, but it was definitely doable. The property manager was very nice and gave clear instructions for finding the place and checking in. We would definitely recommend this apartment and would stay here again if we return to DC.

Summary: My sister and I had enjoyed our stay. The apartment is on a quiet residential street, is super clean and has everything you might want for a visit. Mattie is absolutely wonderful, and was very responsive and checked in on us to make sure we were getting on well. We had a lovely time visiting with each other and my daughter.

Summary: We truly enjoyed our stay in DC. Mattie was a gracious host providing ample snacks, bottled water and coffee for our use. There were few concerns but she was responsive to our questions. The beds were comfortable and the space very clean. We would definitely stay again!

Summary: As soon as you drive up to this basement apartment, you know you have found a hidden gem. This is not near hotels or chain restaurants - it is in a neighborhood just close enough. Bus lines are easy to get to, while the Metro would require a little walk (15-20 minutes). Multiple transportation options are available to meet your needs (though I am glad we did not drive/have to park!) A parking pass is ready for you if you so desire. You can easily walk to nearby restaurants. You can also walk to the Capitol and National Mall (though it is a nice hike). The apartment is clean and comfortable. Our family (2 adults and 2 middle schoolers) fit well. We had groceries delivered from the local store and made breakfast each morning. The kitchen is well outfitted and the owner has stocked it with snacks, water, coffee and other little things you might need. The laundry room is also easy to use and allowed us to pack lighter. Both bedrooms are comfortable and cozy. We were not bothered by any upstairs noise during our stay. Typical city sounds await you, yet we quickly became accustomed to the sounds and slept soundly at night. Board games, cards, magazines and television are available if you have an early night. The owner saw to our comfort, and was readily available to answer questions as they arose. She went above and beyond in several instances, for which we are very grateful. Yes, I would recommend this apartment as a great place to stay. A nice find in DC!
