Positive: The scent you use for the corridors is nice! The location is good too.

Negative: The tap in the bathroom was running constantly couldn't turn it off. Very annoying when trying to sleep. I know that it was a long weekend and hard to fix but it was happening no doubt before we got into the room. Other than that it was ok.

Summary: Ok for budget.

Positive: The George hotel has a great location. Right in the centre of town, walking distance to all the shops, and only a 5 minute drive to the track. The room is very basic. A bed, a tiny bar fridge, a kettle and a portable air conditioner. The bed was super comfortable.

Negative: There was no chair, lounge, desk or wardrobe in the room, so all your belongings end up staying on the floor. They did not have a house keeping service. I stayed 4 nights, and never got fresh towels or the bin emptied. Also, as the portable AC has big pipes that vent to the window, the blinds don’t close properly, so the outside lights keep the room well lit at night. And the noise from the bats in the park across the road is quite loud. The room also needs a good clean.

Summary: Bare bones room in a great location.

Positive: Location, on-site dining & breakfast options, renovated bar & dining areas whilst retaining charm & character of the solid 'bones' of the building.

Negative: Second time we have stayed here across different seasons. Highly recommend that the owners stay overnight in each room & log all the shortcomings...of which there are many. Attention to detail of cleaners - toothpaste splatter still evident on tapware, lint dust all over tea / coffee making facilities. Practical considerations- no soap holder / caddy in shower, shower curtain used on 2 sides which immediately wraps tight around you like a cryo-vacced piece of steak, electric blanket only working on one side. Ridiculous reliance on cheap creaking column heaters in winter & tacky portable AC's in summer ducted through a permenant porthole in the window, which by default allows draught & noise to enter the room continuously. We even had to request a change of rooms upon entry, due to tap spindle leaking across vanity top & pooling on bathroom floor...wet socks straight off the bat!

Positive: They are doing this hotel up and it will be great when finished however the rooms are needing upgrading as far as bathrooms are concerned. When renovated I would stay there again. The meals in the hotel were great with plenty of choice.
