What Our Guests say 500 + Reviews

Summary: Very basic, overall condition/cleanliness just about average. Examples, main door handle loose and very floppy, internal light switch very loose. Nooks and crannies need better attention etc. Bedding was clean and acceptable. Ok for an overnight stay. Quiet area, good views from outside.

Summary: We booked two nights here and then read the reviews, some of which were pretty grim. That was not our experience. It suited our purposes, and we were happy with our stay. This is a golf club that has a few (9?) rooms, which it offers. As such, it is not a hotel so there isn’t a bevy of staff on hand 24/7 like a real hotel might have. Some gripes were: 1) The room wasn’t serviced overnight as the web site says it would be. 2) There was only one chair in the room. 3) Perhaps the room was a touch tired but OK. Good points were: 1) Parking was excellent, easy and convenient. 2) Tea & coffee in the room was good – better if it had been re-filled overnight. 3) The bed was large and comfortable. 4) Staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. 5) Breakfast was very good, cooked to order and reasonably priced. 6) The club facilities looked good, but we were never there when it was open. 7) The cost was reasonable. 8) We’d stay there again for a similar, short break.

Summary: Staff friendly and helpful. With a little tweaking would be excellant. Set in a lovely area in the middle of a golf course with views across the Lougher estuary. Need to know that the restaurant is very limited and not always open. Don't rely on an evening meal. One evening we could only get a ham sandwich. On the evening we did have a meal, restaurant closed at 7 pm, although the food was lovely. Same with bar, no ice one day, no tonic another day and only one white wine ( even though there is a wine menu) Rooms in a separate annexe, were very good, great to be able to come and go without having to go through reception and only a minute or two walk to main building. Bathroom could have done with an update but adequate. Wifi was good and bed very comfy. Great terrace leading from the lounge bar, but again let down by lack of tables and chairs and sun brollies. Would maybe benefit from a fridge and microwave in the room if restaurant facilities are limited. Would definitely stay again but would go prepared!

Summary: Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, Adrian our host couldn't be more friendly, the room was clean and the bed comfy. The breakfast was well cooked and the evening meal was perfect. This is a golf club with rooms in a converted barn, not a hotel, please bear this in mind. The views over the valley are great and the open fire in the clubhouse a bonus on a cold night.we will definitely be staying again when in the area.

Summary: Well its a golf club in the middle of no where. The access roads are single track so this might dampen a quick get away if needed. My room was a good size and the bathroom also a good size. The shower head was floppy which annoyed me for a place like this, but this was the only fault. From the evening menu soup was off but the Steak and ale pie was a considerable portion so ended the evening completely full. Wi Fi worked well. I wouldn't avoid this place. The accommodation block is away from the clubhouse by 40 yards or so, so I can't imagine any noise pollution.
