Positive: Value for money was fantastic, the food and staff we're lovely. The location was about 25 minutes from our event, but it was a very quaint little English village and somthing very new to us. In hindsight we would probably just rent a car next time as getting to and from places we needed to get to was quite expensive. But overall we had a great time, we would absolutely stay again.

Negative: Through no fault of anyone's, as i believe new ownership are due to refurbish the whole premises in time (they have started with the bar) the rooms were a little tired looking. However for us it was just a room to sleep at the end of the day, so other than the room being quite hot and stuffy due to the weather we realy couldn't fault it that much.

Positive: This is difficult because the property changed hands the day before we arrived! The new owners will obviously update all the property and rooms because they definately need it and it was obvious in one day that they will. Brand New bedding and towels and a thorough clean of our room made it palatable but a tiny room, nowhere to hang anything, tatty paintwork etc. I am sure the new owners will change everything but it was very expensive for our one night stay. The Hilton would have been cheaper. The review would have been worse if it had been the old owners but the new ones obviously tried to save a bad situation.

Negative: Not having a wardrobe or anywhere to hang a towel or any clothes, no bedside tables to put anything on. No mirror except for an 18 inch square so low I couldn’t see through it - no chair to sit on (no space for one). Breakfast room - it needs teapots and jugs of milk on tables, better cutlery, a pot of coffee on the table. It was constantly getting up and down to fetch everything. The hash browns were awful, burnt and greasy. Toast would be nice?

Summary: Very disappointed but understand the new owners were in a difficult position.

Positive: Bedding and towels clean. Peaceful location. Rooms and bathroom a good size. Food fabulous.

Negative: Tired and in need of a bit of TLC. Bed very soft giving bad back. Stains on divan part of bed, what appears to be water leak marks on walls, TV cracked on case and lines across screen when switched on. As I say the room just needs some TLC.

Summary: Peaceful, but needs a little love injected into the rooms

Positive: It was a relaxed pub, not busy as it was Wednesday but as I was in England for a funeral it was ideal. Good sized room, clean comfortable bed, reliable WiFi and value for money food. Ample parking . Fine breakfast.
