Positive: Lovely grounds and staff were just lovely.
Negative: We expected to be in a more isolated location, not right next to a main road and a caravan park. The cost did not reflect the facilities. It was way overpriced in our opinion. The bed was nearly impossible to sleep on. Zero air conditioning, which I get but no overhead fans to deal with the heat and stuffiness made for an uncomfortable sleep.
Summary: Lovely staff & great food but overpriced and not value for money. Sorry.

Positive: It is an Eco lodge so toilets are composting and showers are timed. Some travelers might not care for this but it was fine - plus lots of educational posters explaining the process along with their solar panels. The add on dinner was superb. Did not expect such fine dining in a little town. Gardens and art were amazing also
Negative: Nothing.
Summary: Excellent spot to do day hikes on the Routeburn track. Great food

Positive: It was beautifully furnished with tasteful art. The staff were helpful and the included breakfasts were very good with choices.
Negative: We have stayed in other lodges and accommodation around the same price bracket and this didn’t compare with those. We didn’t have a daily service of our room with clean dry towels and bed made and bathroom/ shower wiped out. There was no hand cream or tissues and the complimentary items in the fridge were not restocked. They are small little extras but at this level, should have been included. I was the only one in the lounge after dinner reading, at 8.30pm( I looked at my watch!) when the lovely background music was turned off and the secondary light system was turned over around half an hour later. I was notified of this. Rather rude I thought. I was surprised that the dinner wasn’t included after we saw that it was extra with our package but for what we paid, I think all the food should have been included and the beverages our choice to purchase. We chatted to the staff about our thoughts which they took on board discussing the fact that a winter rate would see a higher occupancy rate. We were the only ones staying there. Please take these comments in a positive manner as we think the Lodge is a wonderful concept and it would be sad to see it not thrive in Glenorchy.
