The Heron - Are you looking for a unique vacation experience? This charming cabin was first built as a corn crib storage shed. It has been reclaimed and rebuilt into a welcoming guest cabin - located in a private section away from other residential buildings on the same property. The Kingfisher is a 3-bedroom rental unit at the same location. You could be near friends at The Kingfisher, but have the privacy of your own lodging.
The cabin retains the original post and beam construction which is exposed throughout. Vintage wide board planking was chosen for the flooring. The flooring has been meticulously refinished - enhancing the natural rich patina of the wood.
The living / sleeping area has a queen bed, a sitting area and a wall-mounted TV. A bath with shower is conveniently located right by the sleeping area. Glass doors lead from the great room to a 15 x 15 open deck, complete with outside dining and relaxing Adirondack chairs.
An eat-in kitchen completes this unique offering. The Heron is new to the rental market. It is convenient to the Dreams Park and All Star Village Baseball tournament.

Summary: Came here as many do - for our 12u boys to play baseball. Luckily stumbled across The Heron. But I had no idea just how magical this little place would be. I keep trying to come up with excuses for why I need to be in Upstate NY just to stay here again. The entire place is perfect. From the records to the fairy lights. The perfectly appointed kitchen to the incredibly comfortable bed. It checks every box. And the hosts have truly outdone themselves. But it’s so much more than that. It’s the escape everyone needs to experience at least once in their lives.

Summary: This was such a comfortable, clean and beautiful home for my husband and I. Came for sons baseball and had all we wanted for late nights after being at fields all day. You can tell the hosts really loves this home by all the special things from the fairy lights to the record player. Thank you Heron for an awesome stay!

Summary: We enjoyed our stay at the Heron while our son was at Coopertown. It was very comfortable & clean. I can tell a lot of love has gone into this place. The owner thought of every detail - equipment kitchen, coffee & creamer, quality soaps/shampoo, games, record player, fire pit with wood, heat & ac. It was beautifully decorated!

Summary: We found The Heron while researching places in the area for the Cooperstown Dreams Park baseball tournament, as it was less than 20 minutes to the park. The Heron was a great alternative to the crazy expensive hotels in and around Cooperstown during their peak season, and it made for a nice, quiet retreat after hectic days on the ballfields. The Heron is pretty simple looking on the outside, but really beautiful inside — and you can tell she put a ton of time into the decor. Everything is thoughtfully labeled and the appliances were all new and worked well, including the AC which was big for us since it was a humid, warm week. The wetlands out back was really beautiful and serene, and each morning we saw either an adult or baby herons. Laura, the property owner, was amazing! She texted us when we got there, letting us know that if we needed anything, she’d be available. Although they’re on the property, it’s a fairly private back cottage so it never felt like they were there. We weren’t looking for a loud hotel with kids running up and down the halls and screaming at a pool, so this was a great find for us. I’d recommend this with confidence to anyone looking for the same!

Summary: Upon arrival, the caretakers introduced themselves and made themselves available if there was anything I needed, which was nothing! The location is set back from Rte 7, that you don’t even know is there because the birds from the bird sanctuary you abut drown out the bustling noises. The tranquility allows for a cozy environment to spend quiet time relaxing, reading and resting in the perfectly furnished cabin or on the private deck. An unexpected surprise is the record player, and a wonderful collection of albums. The crackling of the needle against the vinyl brought back childhood memories as Fleetwood Mac echoed through the evening. The photos online is a very basic glimpse of the actual accommodations. The furnishings are comfortable and extremely clean! The loft has a quaint little office complete with a desk! The space reminds me of a retreat to write, or work on creative projects, or just a place to manage the everyday tasks. A pleasant surprise for a first time renter! 100% recommend and look forward to staying again next year! The drive to stores and restaurants are very close and convenient. Plenty of chain restaurants and family owned stops. Dunks and Starbucks available to get through the 8am game. We spent most days at AllStar Village for baseball. The cabin is close enough to take a break from the complex and allowed me to take our 12 year old back and shower and get a good nights sleep.

Summary: We loved The Heron and had a great stay! The photos of the space are out of date. The place is beautifully decorated with every thoughtful detail. The bed was comfortable so we slept well. The record player and records were a fun treat and the guide book had great information about the local area and the place. We’d love to come back and stay again if we find ourselves in the area.

Summary: Great place to stay for 1-3 people who enjoy outdoors / nature. Actually saw few blue herons during my 5-day stay .Only 12 min ride to All Star Village , 18 min ride to Dreams Park and about 20 min ride to Baseball Hall of Fame . Big Walmart Superstore ( groceries include) also close by . Would definitely re-book if venturing out to the Oneonta area again.
