Positive: Funky room. Good location for Universal Studios and Warner's Bros tour. Helpful staff who gave us a detailed map at the beginning.
Negative: Room was for 4 people but we had to move furniture around to fit our suitcases in and there was only 3 of us. Shower flow wasn't very powerful.

Positive: Location is excellent and the place is FULL of fun movie memorabilia. While not included in the stay, the diner attached to the property is top notch. Staff was super helpful and nice as can be. Rooms are big.
Negative: They do not clean your room unless you ask and toiletry products were tiny, but they were happy to give you extra. We have stayed here twice and the first time we were near the pool. This past time, we had a room on the top floor of the building on Franklin with a windows on two streets which ended up being a bit noisy with traffic and construction.

Positive: From Sydney Australia. Our stay back in Late April.. Early May. We arrived to The Franklin.. Which I was confused by as we were looking for the Adler.. But no matter. We walked from Vine station.. Up Gower to Franklin in the morning. The very friendly and accommodating staff at reception let us have an early check in.. 10 minutes after we got there.. Marvelous. The hotel is very well done and has wonderful photos of old Hollywood everywhere. The queen bed.. Actually it may have been King.. Was very comfortable and our room was elegant and cosy and had a great shower. This hotel is convenient to everything. A very nice walk of a day down Gower or Vine to Hollywood Blvd or a terrific walk along Franklin. Loved the walk everyday. I recommend walking along Franklin to Highland.. Then just keep walking. The staff were always friendly to us and helpful.
Negative: Ok. More than a few Obnoxious conversations from Staff/Guests. Converse Elsewhere. One staff.. House keeping member was having a loud obnoxious conversation on his phone just metres from our door. My partner stepped into the corridor and gave him a hard stern look. After a few moments he finally got the hint and left. If you are starting out early and leaving about 8am and returning at say 5pm or later you will likely avoid these loud conversations. It is only because I was doing a bit of admin(getting my international roaming to work) and my partner needed some brief rest before we ventured out(about 30 minutes)and heard those conversations. If you Hang around the hotel.. You may well hear a few people. But if you are out walking the streets doing things.. You won't hear any of that and it didn't happen at night.. Though I was wearing my headphones at night to listen to music. Always have my headphones on in hotel room(Audio Technica). Take headphones. For the most part.. Quiet.. Though sound travels. It Really just depends on which house keeping staff are on and who's staying there. Different personalities. Some people have no etiquette. I kept hitting my shin on the wooden bed post.. Just one of those things. I ended up wrapping towels around the bed posts. Ohhh That's right.. The air con.. Was loud.. So we kept it off during the night. The hotel is old and has some old things in it which work quite well. Gives it character. These are small things. Don't let them deter you. It is actually a wonderful hotel.
