Summary: Positives and negatives: + Rooms actually are nicer than they look in the pictures. We were pleasantly surprised + Restaurant is really good quality, both staff and food were great + Aircon worked very well and room didn't seem to humid + Love these guys because they are kind to animals. - No late checkout. It's advertised at a $50 cost, but when we told "Donni" that we wanted to check out at 1pm she said that we had to leave at 10am because someone else was going to stay in the room. The place was not fully booked, and so if check in is at 3pm is 2 hours not enough to clear a room? - Tuesdays is Renovation day. If you are staying on a Tuesday, bring your earplugs. They were working on the rooms or the roof and it was all day with power tools. We knew about the partying until 10 and 11pm, but we were not counting on losing the nap.

Summary: We stayed at the Islander Hotel for our last night in Rarotonga before heading back to Australia the following morning on an early flight. Staff were lovely. The room was ok but a few stains on the bed head put me off! Bed was comfortable. There was a t.v in the room but no remote and didn't seem to be working at all. Went across to the restaurant for meals. Good views, food well priced, good entertainment on. The beach bar does play music til around 10.30-11pm so no chance of an early night, although appreciated that they do turn it off at a reasonable time. This hotel is basically across the road for the airport so very convenient for an overnight stay.

Summary: Breakfast was great. Faster service this visit. Noisy in the evening but they stop at 11 pm. So convenient for airport transfer if you’re not staying on Raro.

Summary: My 6-day stay at Islander in April 2026 was very pleasing. The AC was a fixed setting, which worked out perfectly. The internet was fast and reliable. Breakfast, included with the room, was delicious. I leaned towards the Eggs Benedict and Spanish Omelet. Dinner, too was amazing. There's a convenience store within reasonable walking distance, which is nice. And, with the airport so close, one can just walk over! The hotel provides a shuttle a short distance to a park with a great beach and even a food vendor. From time to time, I enjoyed a beverage at the hotel's Hula Bar. Overall, I recommend Islander Hotel as an excellent option. Insofar as arriving or departing, you can't get closer to the airport!

Summary: A weird set up. Looks like an old motel was closed in. Anyhow, room big and clean, if dated and a bit worn. There is noise from bar area until 11 pm. They are very clear about that, but not really a problem. Pool is pretty much unusable for adults as it is essentially in the middle of the restaurant. Weird. But kids used it. Large resteraunt on the ocean. Food pretty good and reasonable price. Staff friendly. Don't complain if it takes a while, just chill. They are clear about that also. Good for a night before flying, but not for a vacation stay.

Summary: TV has not worked at each visit. No person on duty could fix. We were charged early check in even though room was already ready for us when we made the request. Early check in charges are traditionally charged when staff schedules have to be altered to accommodate. Safe non operating
