Positive: The Lookout is a very modern apartment block in a fantastic location, only a few minutes walk into Dalkey, where there are lots of nice restaurants and pubs, as well as a supermarket. It is also within 15 minutes walk of Sandycove Beach, the Forty Foot and Bulloch Harbour, which meant that we swam nearly every day we were there. The apartment is very spacious and includes a main bathroom and a bedroom with an en-suite. There are two bedrooms with double bed in both. There is a large utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer and lots of space to store suitcases etc. The block has excellent facilities including a gym, which my son used several times. It also has a communal area, which I used on the first day to work. It also has an outside terrace that we sat out on in the morning to have our coffee, as the weather was good when we were there. There was a concierge from 10am to 2pm from Monday to Friday who was very helpful. All doors apart from the apartment door work off a fob system so are very secure. I had to contact Ian, the host quite a few times while we were there - he was very responsive and got any issues sorted out quickly. Communication ahead of our arrival was also good. We loved staying at The Lookout and would highly recommend it. We hope to return again in the future
Negative: We did have a few issues that meant that I had to email Ian, the host several times. He always responded quickly and got them sorted out and did explain that the staff member who usually looks after the apartment was on holidays. Parking - This is charged at €10 per night for the underground car park, which I feel should be included in the price. We weren't given the fob for the car park with the apartment keys and I spent an hour the night we arrived trying to get into it. When I did, the space was too small for my van. Ian arranged for a refund and I parked on the street outside which is free. Door Fob - We were only given one door fob when we arrived which wasn't adequate for four people and it wouldn't work for the gym. I requested an additional fob and it was delivered the next morning by the company's maintenance man. TV - We couldn't get the TV to show terrestrial or cable TV. The maintenance man tried but couldn't get it to work either. We were then informed by Ian that they only provide access to streaming services which, unless you pay for it yourself, you won't be able to access. I feel that there should be terrestrial/cable TV in an apartment of this standard as not everyone pays for streaming services. We wanted to watch the Olympics and Irish TV programmes while we were there but couldn't. Cleaning - Whilst the apartment was in the main clean, there were a few hairs in the bathroom cupboard which hadn't been cleaned. I had to pick up shards of a broken coffee mug from the floor of the terrace which had not been swept and also had bits of plants and leaves on it. Also the ensuite shower was blocked with hair and wouldn't drain and we had to get maintenance to come and unblock it. Tumble Dryer - For the first week, the tumble dryer didn't work, however it was fixed by the start of the second week. Glasses - There were no wine or large glasses.
Summary: A lovely apartment in a fantastic location.
