Positive: I liked the stay very much and the hotel experience was real good. This place combines the traditional essence with luxury stay. Right from the reception, welcome drinks, entering the room, restaurants, all were pretty good. Staff were very helpful and kind. Food was traditional and tasty. Complimentary traditional Chettinad snacks were really yum.

Positive: Wonderfully decorated hotel, traditional touch with the design of an old chettinad home (hotel converted from a typical home). Lots of Instagrammable spots within the property. Maximalistic approach retained in room design. Extremely friendly staff who provided a warm welcome and support throughout. Interesting touristic places in walkable distance along the same street.

Positive: Beautiful and comfortable room, in a restored old Chettinad palace. Convenient location for strolling around the village, and close to the main sites.
Negative: Given the price of the room, was a surprise to learn the in-room water cost 300 rupees (c £3) a bottle and no filter water provided, and the coffee capsules £1.50 each. Other activities were pricy too - 500 rupees for half an hour on an electric bike (earlier this year I paid 500 rupees for a full day. in Goa!). At this price point for the room, would have expected a bit more of the standard to be included in the price!
Summary: A lovely couple of days in a beautiful hotel.

Positive: The historic architecture was outstanding. The ambience enchanting. The large room with two armchairs was very comfortable.
Negative: Sometimes the staff at the restaurant interrupted us as diners too often. They would be better to observe at a distance and only offer assistance when we obviously required assistance.
