Positive: We stayed in Room 6 and it provided a functional home-from-home. The bedside lockers had a double socket above each. The wardrobe had 10 quality coat hangers. The double bed was very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was very good and the cooked breakfasts were delicious. ALL the staff were lovely and ready to satisfy your ever wish.
Negative: Control of the main-light was only available from one side of the bed - a minor issue that could be solved by having a '2-way switch' on one side and an 'intermediate-switch' on the other (and an additional 3-core cable between these switches)

Positive: Friendly staff. Clean/ comfortable room. Food was lovely. We had the Sunday lunch and all fresh.
Negative: Floorboards, were very creaky in the room and we were on the second floor so we worried we were disturbing the people below

Positive: The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The rooms very spacious, well equipped and were in a very good state of repair. In the morning we were served a superb freshly cooked full English breakfast, which really set us up for the journey home.
Negative: The thermostat on a radiator in our room was broken, so it was a little bit warmer that we would have liked. Also we didn't appreciate when we booked that the bar and restaurant closed at 20:00hrs on a Sunday - luckily we had already had an excellent late lunch at Adriano's!
Summary: The moorings was a great example of Durham hospitality at its best.

Positive: The room was clean and comfortable and had an outside terrace which would be great in the summer Staff were lovely and gave us a couple of free shots, price of food was so cheap
Negative: The room was far far too hot , tried to turn down the radiators but it didn't make much difference , it was like a sauna Also only restaurant open , not the bar downstairs, we only wanted drinks so would have been good if had a bar area

Positive: Breakfast was excellent. Also great adjoining restaurant for evening meal which was delicious and great value. Great service.
Negative: downstairs bar was closed which meant singer had to sing in restaurant and only place to have drink was in restaurant which was crowded.
Summary: Overall hotel is great value for money. Food in restaurant is excellent and staff are friendly.
