The "Old Barn" is a gem just minutes from downtown. You will feel as if you are in a forest yet, minutes away, is the best of Portland. It's all at your fingertips. Yet, you might not want to leave the "Old Barn." The NEW door code is 2215.
The space
The old barn is incredibly unique in its location and eclectic, creative Decor. It is nestled in the woods yet ten minutes to downtown Portland, Nike headquarters, the Rosegarden, the Japanese gardens, hiking at the Arboretum and Council Crest and so much more. You will wake to the sound of birds chirping, and the view from the deck is enchanting. Keep an eye out for the owls, eagles, deer, coyotes, flying squirrels, and elephants - Okay, there are no elephants :-) The master bed is as good as they come. It's a king with a remote that lifts the head or the feet and it has a massage option. There is also a foot massager next to a desk.
Guest access
You will have access to all of the old barn including the wonderful outside deck and hot tub, exclusively for you! It's very private. The back area, down the hill about 500 feet away, has another unit on it and is reserved for those guests only. Please DO NOT WANDER OFF. There are neighbors nearby, though you can't see them. Thanks for understanding.
Other things to note
Please rinse off before using the hot tub; only touch the blue "spinning" button to turn on and off the jets. The controls are very sensitive and can accidentally turn it off. Do not hot tub alone. Do not use alcohol or other drugs while in the hot tub. Do not exceed 15 minutes in the hot tub.
There is a one-time $58 charge for each pet. Pets MUST be leashed when out of the unit.

Summary: I liked the place. Was a super private place in the woods. Quiet and relaxing. Inside stairs were super steep but it was fine. Just don't get super drunk or high before you climb them and use the outside stairs if you feel it's safer. Had a wonderful time while on vacation in the Portland area

Summary: Was a great spot to just be away with my husband. Didn't have to waste time driving far. Hot tub small but did it's job. Cute little place well stocked and very unique! :)

Summary: Yes the review about noises in the wall upstairs is true, but didn't bother us.. we had a good time.. my only suggestion would be a tension rod and curtain or blinds in the big open bathroom window to help make the girls more comfortable.

Summary: Enjoyed our first stay at the Old Barn and knew it would be perfect for a quiet romantic getaway. It didn’t disappoint! Soaking in the hot tub in a cool gentle rain then warming up in the luxurious shower and cuddling up in the huge comfortable bed were exactly what we needed. And I loved the chance to serenade my husband on the baby grand! We’re already looking forward to our next stay!

Summary: My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous romantic birthday weekend at the “Old Barn” and we definitely plan to return! We were delighted with the globally eclectic decor, super comfortable bed, private setting, deck and hot tub and incredibly large shower… everything we needed for a romantic weekend. Plus a baby grand piano! So I was able to serenade him with love songs. Thanks for creating such a lovely space and making our stay easy and comfortable.

Summary: We enjoyed our stay at the Old Barn! We had close access to everything, and it was nice to come "home" to a quite and relaxing place. I'm giving only a 4 star rating because it's lacking bathroom facility on second floor with the master bedroom.

Summary: I feel obligated to leave this review because the property listing failed to disclose an aspect of the home that could be a deal breaker. If I had known about this ahead of time I would not have booked this property. The bathroom is located on the first floor and the bedroom is on the second. To access the second floor your choices are to use a very steep, winding, unsafe staircase or use the wooden staircase outside up to the deck outside the bedroom.There is even a sign inside stating "USE STAIRCASE AT YOUR OWN RISK". This is unacceptable for a VRBO property. To use the bathroom during the night I had to put on shoes and a jacket and use the staircase outside because I did not feel safe using the staircase inside when I was half asleep. Vacationer beware!

Summary: The natural beauty was amazing. My favorite moments were in the early morning. I would get up and soak outside in the hot tub. Just looking out at the forest and enjoying the sounds around me. The bed was comfortable and the shower was amazing. I truly enjoyed my quick stay. Will come back again.
