Summary: We had a very pleasant week at the Old Forge. We were 6 in all and the accommodation was more than adequate. It was very clean and comfortable. A good location for exploring North Yorkshire. It was a pity there wasn't much to do in the village (No Restaurant/Pub/Cafe) and some of the facilities further afield were dissappointing.

Summary: We had a lovely stay at The Old Forge. It was clean, spacious and very well equipped. This modernised barn was very welcoming, the beds were so comfy and the bedding lovely. We spent many hours cycling around the area and visited lots of beautiful villages in addition to the popular coastal resorts. The hosts are very considerate and helpful. Thank you very much for making it a fantastic holiday. PS: We loved the welcome pack too, especially the cake…thanks again!

Summary: The Old Forge is stunning. Spacious and beautifully decorated throughout, it has everything you could possibly need for your stay. There were 8 of us in the property for the week and it never felt crowded. The beds were very comfortable and the water was always piping hot. The countryside is right on your doorstep for local walks. The cottage overlooks the village church and it was so nice sitting outside in the early morning with a cuppa, just taking in the tranquility, and listening to the birds. There is so much to do in the vicinity, or a short drive away, we were never stuck for something to do. Caroline was a fantastic host and made us very welcome. The goodie basket was a lovely touch and Caroline’s lemon drizzle cake was delicious. I managed to persuade her to part with her recipe and made one the day after our return! We all fell in love with Archie - he’s adorable! We thoroughly enjoyed our staycation and will definitely be coming back in the future. Thank you again Caroline and Nigel

Summary: The Old Forge Cottage offered a warm welcome for a week of family and friends gatherings. On arrival we were greeted by Caroline and enjoyed home-made lemon drizzle cake with our Yorkshire tea, then later indulged in the other Yorkshire treats left for us. The cottage is ideally situated for walks in the Wolds or trips to nearby Malton, with its delicious food stores, restaurants and pubs, to York and to Whitby, where we enjoyed a Halloween experience, with visiting Goths. We were always happy to return to the warmth and comfort of the Old Forge Cottage and enjoy the stroll to the donkeys with our little granddaughter. A perfect Autumn break for all of us.

Summary: Would definitely recommend with no hesitation. Everything you could think of was supplied, lovely welcome basket, flowers and home made cake 😋. My parents use walking sticks and there wasn't anywhere in the accommodation they had a problem with. Walk in shower in the bathroom for them a real bonus. Our family aged from 86 down to 4year old and there was something in there for everyone of us, games, dvd's. Fully equipped kitchen including washing/dryer machine, dishwasher, fantastic when there was 8 of us. Caroline made us feel very welcome when we arrived and not forgetting the wagging tale of Archie when we returned from our days out.

We especially liked the tourist standard info section for local attractions and places to eat and drink, the comfortable beds and luxury linen, convenient for the local pub.
