Summary: We were very happy with all the amenities of the cottage, there was even a hand mixer for a birthday cake. The swimming was great off the dock. It is also a dark location for star watching. The local boat launch is easy to use and in good shape.

Summary: My family and I returned home from our vacation at The Perch this past Saturday. It was absolutely lovely. Our hosts we very organized and timely in their communications and they set a level of expectation that they more than achieved. Upon arrival we found all kinds of little touches that warmed our hearts. The cottage is clean and very well stocked. I mean WELL STOCKED. It is sadly very rare to rent a cottage and find pots and pans that are not warped or furniture that smells of a curbside. It is obvious that David and Lucy take pride in their cottage and treat it like a home. Everything is in good condition including their restroom. The lake is clean and quiet. My kids could have swam all day and I proud to report that I won the annual fishing contest and my hubby didn't even come close. I read a lot about the stairs to the lake in other reviews - but I think they are exactly as advertised. The cottage is set up high in the shield so you have to walk down to the water. The stairs you take are very well maintained (I could tell you horror stories of other cottages) and have rest stops throughout them. Every effort is made to ensure a safe and well paced ascent and descent. The Perch has a lot of fun games to play, toads to hunt,,and comfy furniture to sink into while reading a good book. I brought my dogs with me and they might not ever forgive me taking them back home. Thank you for showing us what life could be... alas, back to work we must go.

Summary: What a lovely place. Clean, everything you could ask for and then some. Don't have any suggestions on how to make it better (unless you could move the water closer to the cottage :))

Summary: My wife and I enjoyed our two week stay at The Perch with friends and family. The facilities were modern, clean and very functional. Our hosts very specifically outlined area attractions and practical necessities. Their guide also detailed expectations for use of the cottage which made it easy to feel comfortable using the space. We had a very peaceful comfortable stay.

Summary: We had an incredible time at the Perch. As we had hoped, we were there on a perfect fall weekend when the leaves were vibrant and out in full form but the weather was warm enough to soak in the sun and spend most of the day outside. The cottage perfectly accommodated 5 adults and we enjoyed making a full thanksgiving feast in the well-stocked kitchen. Getting out on (and in!) the lake was definitely my favorite part of the weekend. David and family were incredibly professional and helpful. They even deck out the table for our thanksgiving feast. Thanks for sharing your cottage with us! We would absolutely love to come back sometime.

Summary: This was our second year booking at The Perch. It never disappoints us. The host David & Lucy are really focused on making your stay a great experience. From the moment I booked the communication was great. The cottage is so comfortable and homey. It has everything you would need and more. We were aware of the stairs leading to the dock and planned our day accordingly. We packed a cooler full of drinks and snacks and were all set for a phenomenal day. There is plenty to do with kayaks, paddle boat, canoe and swimming . If your not interested in water activities there are hiking trails near by and you are a short drive to Perth or Sharbot Lake. I highly recommend this cottage. We had another amazing vacation. Thanks so much David & Lucy.

Summary: We stayed at the Perch for 3 nights in July. The cottage was spotlessly clean and supplied with everything a family could need and more. The owners have thought of every detail. They provided so many little extras that made the stay very pleasurable from the welcome sign at the door, to the complimentary bottle of wine and coffee for the keurig machine, plus so many things for us to use such as games, marshmallow roasting sticks, movies, and more. The kitchen had every utensil and dish you could possibly need. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. We were made to feel by the owners that they cared for their cottage and they cared about us as their guests. We were very impressed by their management of the rental. I feel I must include a note about the trek from the cottage to the lake. I did not realize when I booked just how far away the lake and dock were from the cottage and how steep the grade was.. For me, being at the cottage is all about being at the lake for the view as well as swimming and fishing, etc but given the terrain and long hike to and from we rarely went down to the dock and there is not much of a view from the cottage. There are no chairs on the dock, although the owners have made a sitting area with Muskoka chairs and a gas fire pit closer to the shore which was lovely. However, it was not the ideal cottage for fishing, swimming or hanging out at the lake that I am accustomed to. This is in no way a reflection of the owners as it is simply the limitations imposed by the landscape, however I feel compelled to note it for those who also are looking for time at the lake. The cottage itself was lovely, and just as the pictures show. It was exceptionally well maintained and the owners were fabulous. We had a great time! On a side note, we took a day trip into Perth and that was well worth the drive. It is a gorgeous town with historic buildings and lovely shops and restaurants. Overall a great little vacation! Thank you David and Lucy!

Summary: This isn't a cottage, it's a home! As soon as you put your stuff away you'll feel like you've lived there forever, because David and Lucy have thought of everything! One of my favourite things was the ladder on the dock. I'm not a big lake kind of person, so the angled ladder with big steps was really nice for me to hang out on! As everyone has said, the stairs are a lot. But we brought a soft cooler that we would fill with drinks, and spend all day at the dock. Send the kids up when you need something! They're young and sprightly lol I absolutely loved it here, and so did my whole family. I recommend the perch 100%.
