Positive: We had a warm welcome by our hosts. Railway Villa is situated next to the station which is very handy when to catch the train to Kandy and you want to avoid the crowds in Ella. Beds were the most comfortable beds we had so far in Sri Lanka. And the warm shower was also very nice. The hosts are so friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend to stay here instead of noisy and busy Ella!

Positive: This is such a wonderful place to stay on the Pekoe Trail! The host is lovely and made us feel very at home. Rooms are spacious and super clean, with amazing showers and very comfortable beds. We loved sitting outside watching the trains pull into the station. We had both dinner and breakfast here and both were fantastic.
Negative: Only suggestion would be to add a mosquito net as there were a few hanging around in the evening.

Positive: perfect for people on the pekoetrail, was probably the best bed I had in three months in Sri Lanka. shower was really hot. food was good and it was really quite even though its proximity with the railway station. 10/10

Positive: This place is lovely- and so are the hosts! Having this at the end of the Pekoe trail was brilliant but we also found it to be a perfect sanctuary after experiencing the hustle of the town. It's super peaceful, with space to sit outside and watch the monkeys and the trains. Dinner + breakfast were wonderful, the place was immaculately clean and welcoming and Subha organised a tuk tuk to Loonuwatte for us for the morning of check out. We would definitely return and hope more people come stay at this wonderful place

Positive: We stayed at the Railway View Hotel in Hali Ela on the Pekoe Trail, and it was the perfect place to rest and recharge. The location couldn’t be more convenient—right next to the railway station at the end of Stage 17 & start of Stage 18. The room was immaculate, everything felt fresh and thoughtfully designed, and it’s clear the owner has put a lot of care into every detail. The bed was incredibly spacious and one of the most comfortable we’ve slept in, and the hot shower (and amazing shower head!) was just what we needed after the trail. We also really enjoyed chatting with the owner, who was so welcoming and kind, and made us feel right at home. With a lovely view over the garden and railway, and a delicious dinner & breakfast, our stay here was truly one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend to all trekkers and travelers!

Positive: My brother & I had a restful stay at Railway View between walking stages of the Pekoe Trail - conveniently located at the end/start of stages 16/17. It was very comfortable and the facilities overall excellent - good WiFi, shower had great pressure, well-presented rooms & shared spaces. We ate both dinner and breakfast there (the latter overlooking Hali Ella station), which were home-cooked & delicious. Saranga and his wife were thoughtful and attentive hosts. I would recommend this guesthouse highly to hikers & other travellers.

Positive: The Railway View Villa is perfectly located at the end of stage 18 of the Pekoe Trail. But that’s only the beginning of how perfect The Railway View Villa is! Saranga and his family are truly delightful - wonderful hosts and so helpful. Saranga provided wonderful advice and help for our return trip to Colombo (after we complete stage 22). Saranga’s wife cooked the most incredible food. Our breakfast was delicious and served on a table overlooking Hala-Ela railway station. The room was wonderful - so clean and spacious. The bed was beyond comfortable and the shower so hot and strong! We 100% recommend The Railway View Villa. And also, excellent value for money.

Positive: Absolutely fabulous. Best shower we have had in Sri Lanka (we’ve been here 3 weeks). Super comfortable bed. Everything sparkling clean and top quality. Food was local produce and delicious. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Huge TV, great internet. Great location right on the Pekoe Trail. Unbelievable value.
