Summary: Shower old and not enough water and not enough power coming through to wash your hair. Wouldn’t turn off after a shower and next day no hot water. As we were going to a wedding this was highly inconvenient. SaniToilet wouldn’t flush and constantly making the grinding noise all night. Reported it and someone came to sort it but it happened again. Stopped doing food at 730pm because of ‘the weather’ it was really warm and too busy’ Went down for breakfast and sat for 30 mins no one came to take order and we were told we should have ordered breakfast the night before. Ran out of breakfast. Told my friend she could have a big bowl of scrambled eggs as nothing left that she could eat on low residue diet. Actually given a little dessert bowl of small serving of scrambled eggs. Cobwebs everywhere, in all the windows outside. Needs a really clean outside. Sat outside and cobwebs everywhere on the wooden gazebos. Disabled toilet in the bar would not flush, had to lift the cistern and do it. Would not book again or recommend.

Summary: Nice looking room, but extremely noisy as above the bar. Very expensive. A very limited menu with ridiculously long waiting times. Breakfast an absolute disaster, our table was taken by non paying guests, not monitored or reserved by staff. Table we eventually got given was very sticky. After an hour and a half continuously chasing we eventually gave up waiting for breakfast to arrive. Requested refund as it was included in the room rate, told they couldn't refund and I'd have to email the boss. Such a shame as last year the pub was run very well.

Summary: Small room, very basic. Shower ok, but door was broken, kept coming off rails. Toilet door wouldn't shut, and lock broken. Breakfast was ok, but could take quite a while, to come out, some days. Only bread option was sourdough, with a tough hard crust, a bit nerve-racking for people with false teeth / plates. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice bar, with plenty of choices. Ample parking.

Summary: The Red Lion is an old style country pub that served good quality evening meals and breakfast and is ideally situated to see the sights of the surrounding area.

Summary: As a pub, the Red Lion is a typical Hall & Woodhouse inn offering lovely ales and decent food. However, our bathroom had evidence of the previous guest in the loo with blue cleaner fluid trying to hide it. The shower toiletries were empty. The room guide said breakfast started at 8am. When we went down it was in darkness. We found the chef in the kitchen who was very kind and apologetic and said he doesn't start till 8:30. We went back at 8:30 and was greeted by a surly waitress. The breakfast was very tasty though. So we understand that hospitality is suffering and staff retention is tricky. But when pubs get it right they are wonderful and when they get it wrong, this is what happens. Such a shame. Fine for a drink and food. Don't bother staying though.

Summary: On the morning of our check out there was a power cut and the shower flooded overnight leaving the bathroom smelling like sewage. This meant that we had no internet to find our way to durdle door, could not use the shower, didn’t get breakfast, and our electronic devices could not be charged. Whilst we appreciate power cuts are not in the control of the hotel, the staff’s reaction to the power cut and to the flooded shower tray was unhelpful. They simply stated these things happen and said another room’s bathroom was flooded. No discount was offered for the inconvenience or lost amenities or apology was given.
