Summary: The 15-minute walk up the stairs is well worth it. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the food is absolutely delicious. The view is breathtaking. Thank you for everything!

Summary: Very nice place, although the location showing it to be very central to ribeira grande when booking created a few changes in plans for me, but overall nice stay and great food!

Summary: Helpful staff! Included breakfast, good and local. Dinner and lunch available but at a cost. Nothing too expensive! Place is relaxing, 15 min walk to get there but you can get help with suitcases if you want. If you are not mobile, not the place for you. People go there often to hike. But the place allows relaxation too. It’s got a bar as well if you fancy that! The hotel can organize transport but you must organize your own tours. If you speak a bit of Portuguese you’ll find that very rewarding but either way, you’re in for a treat on this island!

Summary: The breakfast and dinner were great. The location is good but difficult to reach the rooms were very humid, would be nice to have at a fan in the rooms.

Summary: The Retreat is truly a special place. The way to the hotel might be quite difficult but it really deserces it. Every detail is thoughtful and genuine, and the care from the staff really sets this hotel apart. The food is exceptional—everything is delicious and clearly handmade with love. Breakfast is a real highlight: all the dishes are freshly prepared, and even the fruit comes straight from their own trees. The Retreat itself is incredibly beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing, making it the perfect place to slow down and unwind.
