Positive: Beautiful spacious room, very attentive and friendly staff, delicious buffet breakfast. Great stay in such a historic and grand hotel with bed turndown service and china cups for tea/coffee at breakfast.
Negative: Our bedroom was on the 6th floor and it was quite a trek (several corridors and 2 lifts) to the swimming pool and with no directions. Currently only the pool is open but we were already informed about that. Also we could not obtain a dinner menu for the Saddle room ( even with helpful staff) and as it was not displayed anywhere and we had no booking we went into town for dinner.

Positive: The breakfast was lovely, best part of the stay, as was the dinner in Saddle Room. The room was nice.
Negative: I think it may be because of the time we stayed (week before Christmas) it was chaos. We could not even avail of the quieter Residents bar to catch up with our friends who were also staying, there was a continous "waiting list" to get in. Everything is focused at the front of the hotel and it was just bedlam. It wasn't the "Shelbourne Experience" I expected unfortunately.

Positive: Lovely, clean and comfortable rooms with attention to detail. Afternoon tea was lovely as always.
Negative: It’s just not the old Shelbourne since Marriott took over. Lacks the previous warmth. Biggest criticism is that there is no place to sit in the lobby and enjoy the ambiance. We either had to stay in our room or be in a restaurant. Very disappointing
Summary: We prefer the old Shelbourne before Marriott took over.

Positive: On arrival we were given a brief overview and history by a very nice porter whilst he carried our case to reception. Check in went smoothly. Our room was beautiful and met our needs very well. Bed extremely comfortable, stunning bathroom, and well organised wardrobe space with essential utilities. Lovely surprise card and biscuit cakes were placed in the room for the birthday person and very happily received. Concierge extremely helpful 👏
Negative: The standard floor lamp is strategically placed behind the reading armchair, however, it's close proximity to the telly causes an annoying reflection. A barman stood on the bar to restock drinks at an extremely high level. Although he was very confident, health and safety issues might be a consideration in the very near future along with the hygiene of the affected bar area that was not cleaned after this episode of restocking.

Positive: Fabulous stay for a milestone birthday. Staff couldn't have been nicer. We had a nice room booked but got upgraded to a lovely suite. Came back later that night and they had left some wine and desserts along with a card wishing me a happy birthday. Breakfast was so nice and the valet parking was a bonus. Expensive stay but it was such a treat. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Thank you Shelbourne. We will be back. X
Negative: Room was very warm so hard to sleep. We should have set the temperature to cooler earlier in the day.
