Positive: The outside of the building was well cared for and looked good. The website said card payment only but I had saved up for this in cash and brought it along just in case. They were happy to accept cash payment for the exact amount. Big win! My room was small as expected but had everything I needed apart from maybe a small table at which to eat my dinner (l'd been out all day and got a takeaway as they don't do food Sunday evenings). My bed was really comfy and the pillows were lovely and thick. The bedside lamp was very bright so I could easily read my book without having to have the main light on. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and was really tasty and good portions. The fruit salad was amazing too. 10/10. My room was very clean and the housekeeping staff did an excellent job of replenishing consumables and making my bed. There were pegs and hangers to hang my clothes on. The shower was very powerful and was able to maintain the temperature I set. I loved the setup of the kettle and tea/coffee area. I was given a key to my room and a key to the front door so I could come and go as I pleased. My room was quite warm but I was able to open the window and let in fresh air. The best thing about my stay was the staff. Every member of staff I spoke to throughout my stay was very polite, helpful and friendly. On Sunday night I fancied a wee tipple but the man in charge (sorry, I can't remember anyone's name) didn't know how to make the cocktails so he escorted me to their bar next door via the back way and introduced me to the barmaid who made me my cocktail. He then waited to escort me back to the hotel. All the staff were more than happy to help and were keen to make my stay as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. There was no hesitation in letting me borrow some cutlery for my takeaway either.
Negative: The shower was slow to drain so I had to pause the water a couple of times to let it eek away before it overflowed onto the bathroom floor. The room door was very heavy so I couldn't push the opening mech down and pull it open at the same time with just one hand. I had a very poor view out of my window but it didn't bother me at all because they had put me at the back of the hotel where it was quieter. I also got greeted in the morning by I herring gull pecking on the window lol. The TV kept showing a message that I assume was asking whether I wanted to update it or not but it was in Polish so I wasn't sure. (I think) I updated it the first time it came up but it just kept happening randomly after that. Being a very old building the floors were crooked and quite creaky in places but that also gave the place character. It was a long walk to and from my room up and down stairs and through lots of doors. No car park so if I parked right outside I had to move the car to a pay and display car park by 8am. None of these things really had a negative impact on my stay, they were just little niggly things that I observed. I only wrote them here as something for people to be mindful of. I was quite sad to leave at the end of my stay.
Summary: I would absolutely recommend this place to stay for comfort and perfect hosting.
