Positive: The size of the lodge is bigger than expected, so peaceful, spacious and well laid out. Brilliant location, close enough to all activities, but secluded enough to just relax and enjoy every moment. The lodges on the property are so spaced out, you barely see another person. Perfect place to just relax and enjoy down time in the bush. Nadia is an exceptional host, warm, friendly and willing to accommodate your needs.

Positive: A beautifully furnished lodge with everything you need, including an air fryer, which is always a bonus when travelling with a baby. It felt like having our own special retreat in the forest. Our host, Nadia, was incredibly responsive and welcoming. She greeted us with drinks on arrival and was there to see us off when we left. The location is excellent, with lovely walks around the estate and easy access to Hluhluwe for early-morning game drives. A wonderful and relaxing stay.

Positive: The host was very welcoming, warm and friendly. She basically gave us the run of the place. There was a maid service everyday. The quality of the furnishing was beyond expectation. Some of the extra specials was: on arrival: cold face cloths and welcome drinks , the host waiting for us way beyond the 2:30 check-in. The body lotion, bath salts and wash ( not in little hotel bottles) 500ml bottles. Wifi and Netflix provided. The out door shower was an amazing and unique touch for us. unfortunately we had a short stay and we're away for the full days on game drives, so we could not take advantage of the exceptional quality of accommodation and location. Overall a great experience worth revisiting
Negative: There is very few offerings in respect of entertainment outside of the farm l. Restaurants were limited to say the least

Positive: Every single thing. It far exceeded all my and my two friends' expectations. It truly feels like a Robinson Crusoe style tree house combined with an extremely luxurious African bush lodge. I spent two years working as an antipoacher where I lived in the bush and this felt as immersive but with all the luxuries I could have imagined and more. The animal life is truly spectacular from the massive Nyalas grazing 15 meters away from you to the little gennet cat that lies on the deck at night. I have stayed at a lot of self catering accommodations across South Africa and thus far Thornwood has been the best. I highly highly recommend Thornwood to any foreigners looking for an immersive and luxurious bush experience. Thank you Nadia and Angel, we will be back as soon as we possibly can.
