Positive: Daina, the host, has created a beautiful space a short walk from sleepy Talalla beach. The Tiny House has all you need for a comfortable stay and plenty of room to spread out. I spent many an afternoon or morning having a cuppa on the verandah watching monkeys swinging through the trees or playing on the neighbours roof with the resident dogs keeping me company. It is close to a couple of shops where you can buy basics, a laundry, restaurants and Talalla Resort for those who like to start the day with morning yoga. For coffee lovers Mutts café, run by WECARE Worldwide, is a short stroll down the beach. You can get your caffeine fix, enjoy the gorgeous view and help street dogs and cats at the same time. If you want cheap local restaurants, fruit & veg stalls, a bank, a supermarket or a wadai stall Talalla town is a short walk away. Talalla has few tourists so it feels like you’re experiencing the real Sri Lanka rather than a sanitised tourist experience. I would highly recommend Talalla Tiny House to anyone and would definitely stay here again.

Positive: If you are a beach person or looking for somewhere off the beaten track away from the crowds. This is for you. Tiny House is ideal for one person but would also easily accommodate two. It's not that tiny. Kitchen has a large fridge with a freezer compartment. A two ring gas burner and a small kitchen top oven. Ample water pressure from the taps and the shower. There are two local shops on the very short walk to the beach, that can provide you with your basics. Also small local family run restaurants that serve a variety of food. There are two local businesses that provide a laundry service. The beach is popular with tourists and locals. Very large beach with comparatively few people. So you definitely won't have to fight for a sun bed. Around a 10 or 12 minute walk to the main road where there are more shops and a branch of the Bank of Ceylon which has a modern ATM. The Bank of Ceylon and the Peoples Bank don't charge for using their machines. The nearest town is Matara and buses are every couple of minutes and only cost 70 Sri Lankan rupees one way. The equivalent of 18 pence sterling. The trip takes around 15 minutes depending on the time of day. Matara is a very large town and will have everything thing you will need. The best coffee shop is Barista opposite the bus station. Look out for the large orange signage. Hope to return again this coming winter, 25/26 and will book Tiny House again if available.
