Positive: We liked everything! It was spotlessly clean with a comfortable bed & pillows, a delicious homemade breakfast and kind, extremely helpful and knowledgeable hosts. They recommend places to eat and surrounding towns and places to visit and we weren't disappointed. We'll be back!
Negative: The only negative was that we only stayed two nights!

Positive: - the idea of living in a former castle that is well maintained - the hosts openness to make the stay wonderful - convenient space for parking with enough parking spots(outside the citadel) - mixed feelings for positioning -> it is quite remote so car is required - good pillows
Negative: - the first room was having a small high window with a pungent heavy smell, regardless the air fresheners provided in the room - some allergies kicked in maybe not related to the room, luckily we had allergies pills (for the entire 15 days traveled, no other allergies) - after we changed the first room, we received another bigger room that had more than 30 degrees in the evening and the portable AC was not handling it. I got charged an additional fee because the room was bigger and had an extra bed - which was not used. - internet was having problems in the second evening(not working even if the host was kind enough to provide the routers user and pass) - pigeons noise - a bit awkward breakfast -> one of the owners was sitting in front of the food serving you with what you wanted. there was a line and you were waiting with the plate in your hand for the owner to serve you. i did not enjoy this experience.
Summary: A bit over rated - will not be coming back. Unpleasant stay but maybe we got unlucky in this period

Positive: The staff were friendly, room was clean, breakfast had good options & room was comfortable.
Negative: Very far away from everything but perfectly fine if you have a car. The cleaners did a great job with the cleaning but the products that they used were extremely strong and overbearing - when we would come home from a day out we had to open all of the windows to get the smell out.

Positive: Our hosts were wonderful providing restaurant recommendations/ making reservations for us despite the language barrier. Also provided excellent recommendations to supplement our sightseeing itinerary (recommended stops, parking recommendations, etc.). The included breakfast was convenient, filling, and tasty. Room was comfortable and cool enough despite only having one A/C unit.
Negative: Wish the floors were mopped better (though this might just be an Italy thing; if you are a shoes off family, you might want to pack some hotel slippers). Would have appreciated some dish towels in the kitchenette. The shower seemed to have a leak in the door seals, so water would pool on the bathroom floor.
Summary: Welcoming hosts and castle stay in a central location for exploring Umbria.
