Summary: We (my eight friends and I) loved this house -- historically charming, but thoroughly modernized and beautifully appointed and cared for, everything well provided. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with great outdoor amenities. Our hosts, William and Veronique, were charming, patient, and welcoming. The bedrooms and bathrooms flexibly accommodate a large extended family, or 3 or 4 couples, or 9 friends like ourselves. And the location outside of Tours, close to supermarkets, pharmacies, bike shops and routes and paths, and close to famous chateaux is perfect. We stayed for two weeks and never stopped having fun. I could write much more -- all positive! -- but you should stay and see for yourself.

Summary: We were 3 couples travelling in France and stayed 5 nights at William & Veronique's property. They are a wonderfully friendly & helpful couple. Our first night, there were violent storms, knocking out electricity in our area. They were immediately there with candles, flashlight & champagne! The location is perfect for exploring the Loire area. We really can not say enough wonderful things about our time at Le Petit Porteau.

Summary: This property is a dream! Reached at the end of a country road, but with easy reach to major highways, with the hosts on-site, our party of nine adults found a welcoming ambience, perfect modern amenities (kitchen, bathrooms, linens and beds included in the term "perfect") in a quiet rural site. The location is ideal for enjoying the Loire countryside while convenient to shopping and restaurants. The property is extremely well designed for accommodating groups of our size, with one bedroom on the ground floor and the others comfortably arranged upstairs. The kitchen is totally modern, outdoor spaces are comfortable with new, modern furnishings, and there is plenty of parking. The hosts are extremely welcoming and open to how-to questions and regional advice. We cannot speak more highly of this property; we only wished we could have stayed for several more days.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful house tucked away in an idyllic setting. The decor and setting were both spectacular. We had 3 generations totaling 10 people and everyone had more than enough room. All the finishes, both indoor and outdoor, were top of the line and the kitchen was incredibly well outfitted; we had everything at our disposal. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. It was a perfect locale for our family stay. I highly recommend this property.

Summary: We were looking for a big house that could accommodate our multi-family tour group in the Loire Valley. What a great choice this was! William and Veronique were so welcoming, making us feel very at home and comfortable in their lovely home. For those considering this house, the pictures on the site really do not do it justice. The house is an old building, so the rooms are kind of laid out in a strange, serial way, but the property has been renovated to a VERY high standard, and it really works with functionality AND charm. All the beds are super-comfortable and have very nice linens. (My only knock here is that the beds had heavy duvets, which in mid July heat was a bit much!) The bathrooms were numerous and well-appointed, with excellent shower fixtures. The house had all the amenities a large group needs to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay (Washer, dryer, dishwasher, etc.) The best thing about the Petit Porteau was the gravel back patio, where we ate all of our meals. What a lovely little enclave, surrounded by woods, with the sound of horses whinnying in the distance. Also worth noting, there is a giant Auchan supermarket about 5 minutes away (by car) which will make shopping quick and easy. Please trust me -- you will have a wonderful time at the Petit Porteau and will be glad you chose it for your stay in Tours!

Summary: Easy, short drive from Tours City Centre and the main attractions of the Loire Valley e.g. wineries and châteaus. The house is absolutely beautiful, William & Veronique have done a great job to make this house feel like a modern, French country home. There were 10 of us in the group, and there was plenty of space for everyone to socialise and relax. The main highlights were the beautiful interiors, big open kitchen and dining area, as well as the number of bathrooms. We would have no hesitation to go back there for a long weekend as there William & Veronique were extremely helpful & welcoming, and there is so much of the Loire Valley still to explore. Thanks for a great weekend!
