Villa Athena is located in Kato Gouves, inside a big olive grove and 10 minutes away from the beach. The villa consists of a two-floor traditional villa of 150 sqm and an independent stone apartment (which is rented separately), with a spacious outdoor area and a magnificent garden, full of colors, fragrances, and local flora. The combination of stone and wood, with the surrounding olive grove, creates a tranquil and comfortable environment The first floor of the villa consists of two bedrooms, each with two beds. On the ground floor, there is a very big living room, dining room, and kitchen, together with the bathroom and fireplace. On the next floor, the are two more bedrooms, each with two beds and with their own bathrooms. All rooms have a closet, drawers and an LCD TV. The kitchen has a coffee machine, dishwasher and all the necessary amenities of a modern kitchen The house has a laundry machine, a fireplace and of course wireless internet connection. The stone apartment has a double bed, its own bathroom, and kitchen. Furthermore, it has a fireplace and traditional furniture and decoration. The outdoors of the property is absolutely amazing. A well-preserved garden, with a barbecue facility and a traditional stone oven to prepare delicious meals. A lot of tables with colorful chairs and big sun umbrellas with sunbeds are there to help you relax under the Cretan sun. All this setting is surrounded by our family's century-old olive grove, that gives the property a traditional Cretan touch. After all, Cretan olive oil is considered to be the best extra virgin olive oil in the world. The area is open and spacious, perfect for a family with children, in order for the kids to play and be close to nature's environment. Finally, the view towards the sea, the olive grove and the hills around is relaxing, while a walk towards the sea is 10 minutes away. The parking space of the property can easily fit up to five cars.

Summary: It wasn’t quite new but very acceptable. Rooms were big enough. Shower downstairs a little bit small. Space around the villa was perfect. Pity there was no pool. We all enjoyed our stay in the villa. Perfect assistance of the owner and the house keeper. Very friendly and easy towards clients.

Summary: The place is beautiful and peaceful. I came with a group and the stay was comfortable there was enough space for everyone and the host did everything in his power to accommodate us. I asked a lot of questions before booking and I appreciated the patience he had with me. Overall my experience was fantastic and I would not mind staying here again. Thank you for allowing us to stay here.

Summary: The villa is located in a beautiful part of Crete. We were there during the major referendum on the Euro, and you would have never known it was a stressful time judging by the friendly and relaxed nature of the locals. The villa itself is great for large groups as it has big open spaces for getting together, but also has four separate and private bedrooms and many bathrooms. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to any travelers.

Summary: I had never been to Crete before and now I can't imagine staying anywhere else on the island. This property is in the middle of a large olive grove and near the beach. What's not to love? Beautiful bougainvillea surrounds the sitting area, there's a beautiful deck from which to watch the sunrise (if you're still jetlagged) or to watch the sunset. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hosts are superb and give you a fantastic introduction to the famous Cretan hospitality. There's also a kitchen and a lawn and multiple rentals on the spacious property, so if you rent just one unit you'll have your privacy but if you're coming with a larger group you can also create a festive compound. All around 5 stars.

Summary: A very big house with a lot of space, big rooms and a beautiful backyard. We had a very relaxing time a way from the big city. If you come to crete and want to live a bit private with a beautiful atmosphere this is the place.

Summary: The setting is ideal truly surrounded by an olive grove which ensures quiet and privacy. The patio garden is lovely and you can see the sea from the upstairs bedrooms. There was plenty of room, linens and towels for family and friends. the house was super clean and gardeners came frequently. George responds immediately to email questions and provides good feedback. We will recommend this property to all.

Summary: We came back to Gouves for a second stay and we enjoyed it a lot again. We were 7 people. The villa was as great as the last time we stayed, nice and clean, and within the very beautiful garden. George is very helpful, it's easy to reach him and he's very efficient when needed. Summary: Situated in the middle of a large olive tree plantation this house has a beautiful setting. Secluded but still very close to the main highway going through Crete from east to west, it is a perfect place for families looking for both the closeness to cities like Heraklion, wonderful beaches and nice activities in the surrounding countryside. Very friendly hosts made the stay even better. I will forever remember those wonderful summer nights watching the sun going down, sipping on some Margarita in the front yard of the house. My best recommendations on this house and its surroundings!
