In the past, castles were built in such magical places. You are lucky, you can rent this beautiful detached piece of earth above the transverse axis of Lake Constance above the roofs of Bregenz.
The impressively located, charming and comfortably designed house with chalet flair sits enthroned on the back of the pledges and is certainly one of the most extraordinary hideaways on Lake Constance. It has a 340 degree panoramic view from the back of the pledges over the Rhine Valley, the Alps, directly to the city of Bregenz with the harbor and the festival site, further over Switzerland and Lake Constance, the beautiful island of Lindau and the Allgäu. Here you can enjoy the sun from early in the morning to one of the most unforgettable sunsets over the mountains or over Lake Constance. It depends on the season of your stay. The house has beautifully situated terraces, a fireplace in the living room, a panoramic swimming pool 8 x 4 m and a spacious sauna. The architecture with the spacious, covered terrace conveys the feeling of an eagle's nest high above Bregenz and the lake and yet in the middle of nature. You feel sublime and yet protected and can thus enjoy the wonderful weather and natural spectacles.
The domicile over Bregenz and the Austrian shores of Lake Constance, built in 1973 and renovated in 2016, has a spacious living room, a dining room, three double rooms, a single room, a bathroom with bath / shower, separate toilet and a bathroom with shower / toilet and access to the sauna.
The property is located above Bregenz and Lochau on the Pfänder slope, only 5 minutes by car from Lochau, approx. 12 minutes by car from Bregenz and 15 minutes by car from Lindau. On the horizon you can see from the back of the pledges over the Austrian and Swiss Alps, over Lake Constance and further over the Allgäu.
In the immediate vicinity there are two very popular, good middle-class restaurants that can be reached on foot in one and in 10 minutes.

Summary: We enjoyed our time at the VRBO. It was very clean and the views were just as shown in the photos. We enjoyed seeing the Zeppelins and hang gliders go by. We would definitely stay again.

Summary: Modern house high on the hillside over Bregenz. The views are spectacular. High enough that the Zeppelin from the Zeppelin museum tours goes by at almost eye level. Boats to Lindau are ten minutes away as are most stores and restaurants. Gasthaus just below the property is run by a wonderful family and has great food. Best to walk over and get a reservation as they are very popular. If you want to start up a conversation with the owners ask them about the renters that couldn't get their electric car to unplug. Road up to house is narrow and winding in spots requiring occasionally stopping for oncoming traffic. If you are going in July I highly recommend getting tickets to the Bregenz Opera. The stage on the lake is a once in a lifetime experience. Also in July I recommend the marionette theatre in Lindau. Also easier to take the boat for a day trip to Lindau. Tickets can be purchased at the boat dock. Enjoy your stay.

Summary: This home in the mountains of Lochau was a beautiful place and setting for our family vacation. We spent two of our 4 nights there watching the sunset from the deck from 5pm to 8 pm. The view and scenery were spectacular! Unfortunately the pool was not working during our stay which was disappointing for us but the owner of the property was apologetic and easy to deal with and was willing to compensate us for the unfortunate circumstance. The property is a wonderful spot to relax and chill and just hang out ! Although the place is a little ways out of town, there is a wonderful restaurant almost right beside it, where we enjoyed a lovely dinner one evening.

Summary: The reasons for our rating are as follows:- 1. The house is very disappointing inside. The photos have been carefully staged to show the good bits, but most of the house is very tired and old fashioned. For example, the photo of one bathroom shows one end, with new mirror and sink uni.t It does not show the ancient bath, or the old floor tiles, or the ancient washing machine in the corner. There is no photo of the kitchen or the other bathroom, because if anyone saw them, no one would rent this house. 2. We were not convinced of the cleanliness- we spent the first evening sweeping up insect bodies, there were cobwebs in corners, and there was a full ashtray left on the patio. 3 The garden was unkempt and the grass uncut, unlike in the photos. Overall, we feel the photos are misleading.. The final straw was when the hot water failed (ancient boiler). We left early.
