Summary: Had an amazing holiday here. All 13 of us ( myself and husband, our 3 sons and 2 partners, my sister and her husband and their two daughters and one partner and then our other sister, so an extended family who love our annual holidays together) when we all arrived .... Everything we had hoped for and more. Penny was fab in terms of answering all all our queries and questions in a timely manner pre visit and it was great to meet her when we arrived . The jewel in the crown has to be Gulcan... with her limited English and our non-existent Turkish she is truly amazing !!! She organised taxis, boat trip, restaurant bookings anything we asked . She saw us off and met us after each trip, we can not praise her enough . She cleaned up after us everyday in a professional and discreet manner. In terms of the village, great friendly atmosphere. Fab restaurants, worth a particular mention is The Captains Table and the lovely Carlos who again attended to all of our needs in our large party of 13 and even went to find cake for Faiths birthday 🎂 . Nothing was too much trouble for him. Also enjoyed Keki Buko and The Octopus for lovely meals . Well worth a visit is Bozburun and Selimiye lovely restaurants and some nice shops . Best restaurant we found in Bozburun was Osman’s (Gordon’s) on the quay side couldn’t do enough for us and the food was fab. Penny, we will be back - hopefully next year, thank you so much for letting us stay in your house and for us being able to make more memories here xxx

Summary: Back again for our second visit. This is a beautiful location and the people in the village can’t do enough for you. Owners Penny and David are lovely and were more than happy to answer any of our questions. Gulcan comes in every day and is unobtrusive and really helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We had a fabulous stay and spent much time swimming, canoeing in the new canoe and generally relaxing and taking in the beautiful coast line. If you do come don’t miss out on a boat trip to truly appreciate how unspoilt this region is, missing you already.

Summary: The property is on the outskirts of Marmaris which is about an hour and a half drive to Marmaris. Gulcan the caretaker was excellent. Very helpful. All we needed to do was just to ask, and she will fo whatever you requested for and beyond. Nice restaurants around. Our host Penny, was also helpful. I will recommend if you are looking for a very quiet holiday. The rooms are just manageable.

Summary: Our stay at villa Julia was enjoyed by all our family. Beautiful large villa with plenty of room for all 11 of us ranging in ages 8 to 74. The furniture was dated but suited us as it was a comfortable place to be without worrying too much . Lots of outside seating areas and a great balcony overlooking the bay outside 3 bedrooms on the first floor. All six bedrooms all with ensuite (plus a shower and wc by the pool) were excellent with such a large family. We enjoyed the lovely large clean sea pool with 12 loungers and many hours spent on the table tennis table outside the villa. The villa is situated in an enviable position with the beach outside the front entrance, fabulous views and located in a quiet fishing village with several restaurants and three very small shops. Penny the owner was moored on the jetty for most of our stay, and was such a lovely lady we enjoyed her company and knowledge of the area. The only downside to the holiday was that the boats and jetty (only free for 4 days out of 15) we thought would there for us to use were not available, there was only a canoe which had a slow leak. We had planned to use the jetty and boats to fish in the sea and also take the children out around the lovely bays but this was not an option as neither were available to us . We managed to borrow a kayak from one of the restaurant owners which was very generous of him. Gulcan, our cleaner, was a gem. Such a lovely lady and not at all intrusive and a great help. We did have a fabulous holiday in a great villa situated in a lovely unspoilt part of Turkey and would definitely return but would check out the boat situation before booking.

Summary: 11 of us, old friends and new have just returned home from Villa Julia. Our stay in this lovely village was wonderful, peaceful and relaxing. My son was keen to make memories and we certainly did that. Villa Julia is in a wonderful spot on the edge of the sea. The people in the village are warm and welcoming and can’t do enough for you. We ate almost every night at the ‘Captains Table’ fresh produce, expertly cooked and the best calamari I have ever eaten. Special mention to Carlos whose warmth and friendship was the icing on the cake, organising everything from lifts to individual food requests and local information. There are several restaurants and cafes and it is well worth a trip to the next village to eat, they will collect and return you in their boat, the food was excellent and the journey back under the stars was magical. The villa itself is rustic think more ‘the Durralls’ than the Dorchester. If 5* luxury is your bag this is not the place for you. There are plenty of seating areas to get together or have some time out. The bedrooms are basic but clean and the beds are comfortable. Plenty of bugs etc as you would expect so come armed with protection. The air con is very efficient. Gulcan, who overseas the property and cleans, organises and takes care of everyone was a star, very unobtrusive and welcoming. Mustafa collected us from the airport at a very late hour and the return journey wcas equally as relaxed and organised. We had 2 never to be forgotten boat trips with Captain Harry aka Ariffe, fabulous food and hospitality and he even came to the aid of our 2 youngest in the party when they got a little lost in another village ensuring they got safely home. We made great use of the canoe at the villa and the breath taking views were something I will always remember. If you are looking for a relaxing break, a taste of real Turkey and don’t mind basic accomodation then don’t hesitate. Special thanks to Gulcan, Mustafa and Captain Harry, Carlos we love you, see you all next year, can’t come soon enough.

Summary: We enjoyed our stay hugely and feel very lucky to have found this little gem. This house is furnished quite simply but had everything we needed. It is a little worn around the edges, but comfortable. It has great communal spaces – a lovely shaded porch with sofas that is just perfect. It is in paradise. It is along the beach past a lovely friendly little village. It has good cafes and restaurants just a short walk away, but is tucked in at the end of the bay so there is no through traffic except the occasional Lycian Way walker. It is incredibly quiet and peaceful. We ended up spending most of our time around the bay as it was so beautiful and tranquil there. We arrived wishing we didn’t have to have a cleaner and left feeling extremely glad we did. She is a lovely smiley woman who is very unobtrusive while making sure the house stays clean and tidy. She did our washing, washed up, picked up bread for breakfast and even cooked for us one morning. Penny was a wonderful host. They were doing some work on the boat so were around during our stay. Again, it was great to have them nearby. Penny gave us tips on the best swimming spots (by a temple with pottery on the sea floor), restaurants (Mermaid in the next bay can send a boat over) and local walks. Tips- There are heaps of bugs, beetles and butterflies everywhere (bring mozzy repellent). The ‘Badem Çiçeği’ café looks quirky but does really good village food and is very reasonable. It also does great real filter coffee. ‘Octopus’ does the standard mezze and fish fare very well but is pricier. The nearest bank/cash machine is in Bozburun so bring plenty of cash.

Summary: This property is truly amazing for the money. If you are looking for a millennial finish to the Villa with a flat screen TV in every room and Ikea flooring everywhere then this isn’t for you and you will be better off in Icmeler. However, if you are looking for a peaceful getaway within a beautiful location and a spacious Villa with 5 out of six rooms having a direct sea view then look no further. It’s true this Villa has age, but for me it adds to the rustic charm that fits with the aesthetic of the location. The Villa is clean, spacious & well furnished. It has every amenity you might need and a few you might not. The pool is salt water that feeds directly from the sea which is less than 10 metres from your front gate. The beach is a natural course sand and the water is crystal clear. The location is quiet, but not cut off. Everything you need is in walking distance and the locals are friendly and helpful. If you are feeling a adventurous, there are infinite places to see within an hour if you have a car (which I would highly recommend) as well as some hidden surprises a short row away in any of the boats or canoes provided. In short, if you are the sort of person/family that wakes up in paradise and prefers to get out and enjoy it, this place is amazing! Thank you Penny for letting us stay and thank you Gulcan for constantly tidying up after us:) our stay was truly incredible. Richard (Bristol, United Kingdom)
