Summary: This was my second time at VIL the first was last summer with my buddies for a 3 day 4 night salmon, halibut and crabbing charter and we had so much fun and success with Ryan that my wife and I returned last week to stay at the lodge and go "prawning" and what an adventure it was. We stayed for 5 nights and caught our limit of 800 prawns which we packaged up and brought home on the plane with us. The flight out from Calgary took just over an hour and we were on the water shortly after landing which was a bonus. The lodge was clean, very comfortable and beautifully decorated, you can cook your own meals in the large well equipped kitchen but our favourite was the 17 Mile House Pub. The location offers fabulous views from the decks and living room with spacious grounds and amenities. It really has it all and the Galloping Goose trail is accessible right from the lodge, we went on several great hikes with spectacular views along the coast. Ryan is an excellent guide and his boats provided a safe, first class experience on the water and Ryan is the perfect host having grown up in the area. We would highly recommend that you check out a fishing package or family get away. In fact we liked it so much we have rebooked another trip out there.

Summary: We hosted my family reunion at Vancouver Island Lodge. Several of my relatives traveled from the lower mainland & had no problem locating the lodge. The location was fantastic, I could sit for hours just looking out to the bay, absolutely beautiful.... even thought the weather didn't really cooperate! Communication with Ryan by email was incredibly efficient. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Ryan, but we met his mother, Barb to do the walk through & she was incredibly helpful & had done a fabulous job prepping the lodge for our arrival. I will definitely be booking this lodge again in future & my brother is hoping he can book the lodge for his wedding :) Cheers, Mel
